Appalachain State - Message Boards

You are right they are better than ever. They were 11-2 last year as an FBS school not an FCS school like before. We should win fairly easily but Appy State isn't a push over.

They beat two teams with a winning record last year. Ga Southern and Ohio in their bowl. The combined record of the teams they beat was 50-86.

I'd say if anyone is "overrated".... it might be App St.

I will say this about App St...

They're better than South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.

I'd bet money that they'd beat those 3 teams.

No. They wouldn't.

You can respect their program but they didn't beat a single team last year that was worth a dime.... and only played one.

Unless UT just lays an egg, which I DO NOT EXPECT, the Vols will control this from start to finish. ASU's chances of scoring depend on how early UT goes to a line up made completely of back ups. This is PAST 3 deep in some positions.

Eh doubt that. Them and Vandy could be close. Their offense is probably better than Vandys but Vandys D would most likely give them issues.

It's always interesting to see what fans of the smaller programs are saying. I've done this with Appy State myself, and to their credit, most of what I've seen have been reasonable fans who of course want to win every game but have some realistic perspective about this one. There are, however, several fans of theirs that don't understand the immense and overwhelming talent gap difference from top to bottom in this game. I expect a well played game by them strategically speaking, but let's be real here.......this will more than likely not be close at the end. Great fans though from what I've seen!

Those of us who know football (most of the real fans) are well aware of the significant difference between the top of the Sun Belt and any team in the SEC. Yes, we do want to win every game. Our coaches, including TN's own Dale Jones, are a good bunch. I expect we'll lose a coach or two each year if our G5 success continues (our OL coach left this winter for NC State).

At the end of the day, I know it's nowhere near probable that we'll beat UT. I also know that the little guy wins sometimes.

I'm looking forward to my first trip to Neyland on the first. See y'all in Knoxville!

I can't think of a stranger OOC road game for Miami than at Appy St. I mean Boone is beautiful town way up in the mountains, but it is about as far from Miami, FL as you can get.

Miami was desperate to fill their 2016 schedule at the last minute, and our AD convinced them they needed a home and home with us. :good!:

Their fans have loved commenting on our "high school" stadium. Of course, I'd rather play before a full 25,000 stadium than mostly empty 77,000 stadium any day.

I used to attend Bobby Lambs QB and receiving camps when he was at Furman. No surprise his son would end up at App.

They will be better than the 3rd string but your point is correct. The first team at App State can play with the lower tier SECE teams... for a half. In the second half the quality of depth takes over for power 5 schools. UT is just so freaking athletic that they could route App from the beginning of the game but I fully expect our second and third deep to get significant playing time by the third quarter. Appalachian does historically play big schools tough though for the first half.

Also, as has been stated before, if you ever want to experience pure college football in a beautiful setting you really should get to Boone for a game. The games really are a blast.

Our fans going on their message board could cause e serve meltdown... We are now FREAK has spent millions on keeping this site up and handing the traffic

Goodness. I'm reading one of their threads and some of them are bragging about their 35k sell out home game against Miami.

Ironically, that's probably more than Miami home games nowadays.

35k for a school and fan base that size is pretty impressive. don't be a douche

Thanks for the links. Would be nice to know the best free message boards for all of our opponents.

So they get 17, in Neyland, against the best defensive line since Albert Haynesworth and John Henderson? Does it ever rain in your world?

When I lived near the Dukes over in Hazzard it never rained. Our car doors did not even need windows.

The "real" message board is Yosef's Cabin (Mountaineer Message Board). Mountaineer Message Board - Mountaineer Message Board As with every fan base, you'll find we have our share of braggarts and idiots. If you want to talk serious football, there are plenty of us who know the game well enough to have a good conversation on the subject.

Hope you enjoy Knoxville. It's a great place to see a game, and of course Neyland is a special place every college football fan should experience.

Also hope you understand I was complimenting Appy State fans, not saying it's unreasonable to expect to win every game. I am by nature an overly competitive person, sometimes driving my wife crazy, and I expect to win all the time, or I'm learning what I can do next time to win if I don't. You should ALWAYS want to win.

Again, enjoy Ktown!
