Anyone concerned about this team(Tennessee) peaking too soon?

For the teams we have to play... Just saying.
Hope so. I'd be thrilled with a 4-3 finish, though I know that will bring out the boo-bird casual fans who will start to question Barnes, the team, and generate the "peaking" question, once again.

Those last 7 games are brutal.
Actually a loss at the end of the year or late in the sec tournament might not be a bad thing. Helps refocus everyone. The worse thing would be for us to roll into the tourney on a long winning streak. This team is good enough not to have many loses to begin with. So losing late might actually help us win it all

I mean, yeah, we’re probably going to lose a couple. Nevertheless, that’s a hell of a team we have this year and they know how to win. So who knows?

I think the Barnes / Pearl matchup will be interesting.

Not as long as we don't peak like VA did last year, i.e. get a number one seed in the tourney then lose to a 16 seed.
Difference is that UVA had to adjust and couldn’t score. Tennessee can shoot their way out of a deficit. Defense is great but it doesn’t always translate to points

Just remember one of Jerry Green's team getting off to a blazing start only too fizzle late in season and tourney. Obviously comparing apples to oranges with each team's coaching and chemistry.
This coach isn't allowing anything to fizzle out. He gonna have these players waking up in the morning drinking that Orange juice!

No they are good and having fun. I am confident Barnes will keep them grounded. GBO!!
Hey OP, don't you dare ever to put Tennessee in parenthesis again. You do realize that this is Volnation, but mabey you don't understand that was disrespectful. I Volunteer to give you another chance

I’m concerned about the minutes that Bone and Grant are playing. No question Grant got gassed at the end of the year.

I believe Grant was never completely healthy last year. He is, this year. Now as long as Bone stays healthy, Vols are fine. Bone has the intelligence, speed, leadership and total control of the offense and can probably play 33 minutes a game, running "Sh!t"

The loss of focus in the Arkansas game is a good sign they haven't peaked. You don't really want a consistent 40 minutes of focus until the last 6 games in March.JMO There are still things to improve on (rebounding, perimeter defense, ball security) and I think Barnes will get that point across.

Honestly. They were told to backdown a bit once the score started to get ugly. They backed off and didn’t know how to not go all out on someone.

This team plays at a high level. To peak, would suggest that they are improving with a fall off later in the year. IMO they really don't need to improve. So long as they stay on the same plateau, they will be fine.

They still haven’t played their best ball. They have been good, but have flashed brilliance at times. The best is ahead of these guys. Just hold on and enjoy the ride.

Green was a terrible coach and his head coaching career fizzled out after leaving UT. He had a policy where coaches were not allowed to say anything negative to players. The inmates were running the asylum and some good and talented teams fell apart late in the season. I still remember the North Carolina coach, Bill Guthridge, telling his kids to hang around in the Sweet 16 game with us because they'll unravel in the end. Sure enough, it went exactly that way. Barnes and this team has a much different mind set and mental toughness.

Good teams don't peak. Teams figure out weaknesses. There isn't such a thing as peaking.

This is a good team. If they lose, it's because they played really good teams, or had a bad game, or went cold shooting.

Good observation. That team had so many factors that attributed to a very rocky environment. Everyone was pulling in different directions, and I was not surprised to see them fall apart at the seams. It is obviously unrealistic to think that this year's team will go through the rest of this season unbruised. There are always rough periods, but Barnes sees the whole picture, and they will work to get better. Enjoy the journey.
Are you guys talking about the 98' team? I think the year they beat UConn in the tourney? Whatever year it was. That team was really talented. A lot of thugs though. If they had the chemistry this current team had they would have been a legit contender
