I had two, brother and sister. I loved them both, very protective and beautiful. One was black the other "blue". They were good dogs, as long as the only living things in thier view, scent or hearing distance was me and or my wife. About all I can say, except they were my first and last Chows I'll ever own.
As many have said, it's the owner and the dog's environment, not the dog. As someone who trains in Schutzhund and has spent all my life around dogs, there is no such thing as a purely dangerous dog, the dog only becomes dangerous when they are raised with bad owners.
A lot of people just have no clue about how to train their dogs. Just watch the bountiful amounts of idiots on the Cesar Milan show.
The key to raising a well adjusted and loveable dog is consistency. The harder the breed, especially with Terrier's and working breeds, the worse the outcomes can be.
I agree with this some. But how many golden retrievers have you heard about mauling someone?
By your logic, pit bull owners are terrible at raising their dogs and golden retriever owners are outstanding at raising theirs.

I wouldnt own one. Especially with kids around. You never know what will set a dog off and I dont know how anyone who has had a dog kill a kid lives with themselves.
But, I understand, as you just have to look at why and how the dog was created and made to exist. Terrier's were bred for hunting, working, and protection. Thus, the owner needs to be more atuned to their breed chosen.
My friend is about to add a gorgeous blue pibble to her household. She's a neuroscience PHD candidate at Vandy. Clearly the scum of the earth.
