Any update on Joey?

It's not and never should be a priority. I dare say most Americans don't even understand NIL or anything about college football.
You're not wrong. But given that the aim of most congressmen/women is to make themselves richer, there are less noble endeavors being carried out by Congress than fixing college football.

Heup's doing his due diligence. My comment more about the NCAA being powerless and all these guys are gonna get approved. Soon we'll have teams averaging 25 years old across the board.
He's doing more than that. He's looking for next year's QB. Because we can't afford to wait and see what happens with Joey. It won't be resolved before the portal QBs are gone. And once we spend money on a portal QB, that closes the door on spending money on Joey.

He won't be a Vol next season.

Saban testified before Congress urging an Antitrust Exemption for the NCAA.

It's a sad situation to depend on Congress to fix this mess because Congress clearly doesn't know how to run, much less fix, a business and has been running on deficit spending most years in recent history.

But here we are.
The Government IS NOT a business, so there's that. The Church IS NOT a business. A NON PROFIT IS NOT a business. Everything does not have to turn a profit.

You do realize he could get NIL and endorsements the way it should have been all along. Players working out their own deals with no connection to a school.

I'm just not sure we get lucky with the portal a second time.

That is my take as well - the question is around when. I feel a shift coming with the route that players take to play. A good player that needs "beefing up" goes to a JUCO that is good at that - then enters the NCAA as a freshman at 20.

Those who also want an education out of this can then graduate with at least a master's degree and be better set up for both paths post college. Yes that is 7 years to play 4 in the NCAA but nothing wrong with that if it becomes the norm.

If your in Heuples spot, as all other CHC's are these days, and your job depends on winning now you cannot mess this up. Waiting on Joey and he doesn't get another yr and risk a losing season next yr or sign transfer and hope you picked right. You will get judged by unreasonable fans and media either way you go. That's a lot of pressure to be under.
At some point our qb evaluation has to get us a high school recruit that can succeed. I don’t believe you can have continued success with getting a qb from the portal every year imo

An aggressive lawyer would file for emergency review of the motion for injunction. Irreparable harm would be done to the players if not decided before transfer portal.

Agreed, I think it seems to be the cool thing to do we have to have a mediocre qb that had a lot of yards passing against mediocre defenses .

I would beg to differ. They are all types of businesses. I run a non-profit business. We generate revenue, manage finances, employ people, and do most everything like a business except we don't have the goal of generating a monetary profit. Many "non-profits" are run as businesses generating profits via generous salaries and expensive travel for their executives (see BLM, Red Cross, Unicef, etc.). Churches should be run as non-profit businesses. Governments work best and most efficiently when run as a business. When you don't run a government as a business, you get stuff like the Cali high speed rail system which has cost over $15B without a single track being laid in 10 years.
