Speaking of which..... am I going to see any sort of a mini game for XIII? I'm at chapter 11 now and its not looking likely (outside of the "go complete the dead fal'CIE focuses" thing)

I do remember one of the weapons, KotR didn't even phase it seems. I need to replay this game. I was too young to fully remember the story however many years later.

I do remember basically every single song from this game. FF games have great soundtracks...

Fk it, I'm buying a PS and seeing if my scratched up discs still work. If not, I'm replacing them.

Not really. Just the hunt system. XIII-2 has several mini games tho, including chocobo racing.

Blitzball is my favorite, and when they re-release FFX for PS3/Vita I'm hoping that they add an online version. I loved beating the hell out of the Goers in that first game. They're like the Gators of Blitzball. I really like Triple Triad from VIII too, and Sphere Break in X-2.

FFVIII and IX had one. Triple Triad was in VIII, and Tetra Master was in IX. I liked Triple Triad a lot more. It was more simple, but a lot more fun. XIII-2 has poker, but its DLC.

Yeah, I thought it was VIII, but I wasn't sure if it was that long ago. Definitely thinking of Triple Triad.

8 was a pretty underrated game. Probably because it was trying to live up to the hype of 7

Yes, but a lot of people do say 8 is better than 7. I can't go that far, but its pretty damn close. I may be one of the few though that thinks Squall > Cloud.

You can download it on PSN for $10 homie

VII, VIII, IX, and Tactics I know for sure

All day.

Would do this first but I think I'm more partial to replaying Metal Gear Solid all the way through

Also, Safer Sephiroth without KOTR was a whooooooore. Only one worse was emerald weapon... Or ruby. One of those two was a pita.

Chatt you don't understand video games nostalgia with me. I have to play the original game on the original system.

For what I've spent on SNES, NES and games in the past two years, I could have bought a brand new laptop and downloaded emulators.

I've got a real hankerin' to play FFVII now. It cannot be denied.

It will be depressing to see the graphics that at one time I thought were incredible. But that game was just too epic not to pick up again. That's the most immersed I've ever been in a game world.

How is it different with PS3 though? The controller is almost exactly the same as when FFVII came out (I think they had dual shock by then)

I'm not sure they had dualshock at that point...

[edit] dualshock came out approximately 1 year after FFVII, but that's not the point

Anyway, it's not about the controller. It's about the experience. You wouldn't understand.

I can get a SNES controller for my computer, too. I could even hook it up to the TV with HDMI. Doesn't matter. If I don't have to blow into the cartridge and put a book on top of the system to get it to turn on, what's the point?

Yeah, that was the one I was talking about earlier. I had two save files, one where I advanced the story, and the other one for Gold Saucer. So, I couldn't fight the main story boss with KotR, so I did the next best thing and fought the weapons.

Emerald or Ruby or w/e in the water was hard. I don't remember KotR even making it very easy.

The materia combos make all the fights easy. I remember countless hours of grinding trying to get all the master materia. I also remember grinding in the sunken ship with Yuffie and her ultimate weapon in order to transform the monsters into sources to level up with. One materia set-up I remember was "Cover", then fill the rest with multiple "Counter Attack". Anytime someone was attacked the person with this would block for them then counter with however many counter attack materias they had equipped. If you were dealing 9999 and had 12 of them, that's close to 120,000 points of damage each time the enemy attacked.

Yeah I was too young to get all that. I just liked fire and summons lol. Maybe I'll use more strategy this play through.

I remember another useful one Final Attack linked to Phoenix. That saved my ass a few times. If you die, it casts Phoenix. It deals fire damage, revives any fallen member, and refills HP to full. IIRC if you have a few of phoenix summons you can link them with mp turbo, and mp absorb. I'm not sure that's correct, but you can deal extra damage with mp turbo and absorb mp at the same time. Basically you will never die or run out of mp for the summons. Unless you can't beat the enemy before your summons run out.

Man, now I want to play this ish again.
