Anthem (February 22 Release)

I bring up Madden, and heck I could bring up Star Wars too, because they just flat out ruin these games with microtransactions, mainly ones that give a competitive advantage, and like you referred to, I personally will be shocked if cosmetics are the only microtransactions in Anthem. Their history says it simply won't stay cosmetic only and I see this as only the first step. And personally regarding cosmetic microtransactions I have a problem with them because I can see who they're geared towards, mainly younger kids who whine at their parents to buy them, and it makes me sick
I can see your point but that problem and anger should go to parents who can’t control that. My whole argument was cosmetic only and I specifically said I have a big problem with it affecting anything outside of that.

While yes I agree parents should do a better job, they still know who they're preying on with this stuff. I guess I'll just always have hate in my heart towards EA regardless for what they've done to Madden, and to a lesser extent Star Wars

EA has been ruining games long before Madden and microtransactions. Its funny coming from the PC side of things and seeing people just with in the last 5 years complaining about EA. they have been trash for a LONG time. it just sucks that they are no longer just ruining their own games but have branched out to ruin other people's games now too.

I am fine with the cosmetics. If people want to pay to look cool, go for it. Its not like its the only way to customize your Javelin in the game. As it is you will already have stupid amounts of choice to customize.

got to play some this weekend.

Discovered my first bug. In one of the dungeons the freeze attacks by enemies on me didn't work properly. I would be "frozen" but still able to move around, fly, and use abilities, but not shoot. and the effect lasted longer than the "frozen" status would.

not sure if its a bug or not, but the enemy also spammed that freeze attack to the point where the two of us running it would spend 90% of our time stuck. the freeze, even though its ground based, also effected the storm javelin when it was hovering.

the enemies were tough enough where the two of us couldn't focus down the "freezers".

I know its just the demo so it makes sense, but not knowing the names of the enemies makes it real awkward. can't talk to my squadmate(s) to communicate on what we should be attacking. its pretty sad that we had to go with things like "the big one", "the floaty one", "kill the dogs quick"

With seeing the final version of Apex Legends and the in game economy, it gives me hope that EA has changed a little bit as far as MTX is concerned. Of course it could be totally different in Anthem, but in Apex Legends, the skins arent really that over priced and the earning rate of coin feels fair and also the loot boxes that you can purchase give you a percentage of probability for getting certain levels of cosmetic stuff. Not to mention, it is 100% cosmetic and nothing that is pay to win.

Looking forward to playing this tomorrow. Hope it's good and presents a fun grind.
I realize that they can change the MTX system pretty much on the fly, but I am very curious how its going to look at early launch. I expect a full report from you and also a report on coin grind and how bad it is.

For what is essentially Bioware's last breath, I was a little underwhelmed.

It wasn't nearly as bad as Andromeda in terms of expectations vs. reality, but I could see this getting monotonous rather quickly.

A bit repetitive to start with. Not much else to play in my library so I'll probably stick with it for another few days.

Freak has some weird load screen issue where it takes him 2 minutes longer to get into missions. So, half my experience has been him complaining about that over and over.

Well when you miss half the mission because you're still loading. Lol.

We will see if moving to the ssd helps, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Are you using a SSD?

Edit: never mind lol
I worry about about both this game and the division being repetitive. The missions all kinda feel the same. Anthem's visuals and mechanics are fantastic though, imo.
