Another Teacher-Student Sex Scandal

Have any of you ever noticed it's almost always the mom giving the interviews and calling for the teachers head when it's a male student female teacher case. Dad's don't seem to have much to say in the matter.

Would be an interview in The Onion

A former Catholic high school math teacher's alleged months-long affair with a 17-year-old student has landed her behind bars — while possibly pregnant with the boy's baby.

Mary F. Gilles, 28, was fired from Pacelli High School in Austin, Minn. Tuesday after allegedly confessing to the sexual trysts which began in her home back in February, according to the Star Tribune citing the felony charges.

The student, who is nine years her junior, allegedly confessed to having sex with Gilles

My dad would have given me a high five and finally been proud of me.

With the proliferation of pornography in our society, you cannot be surprised by the rise of sexual assaults, rapes, and teacher-student relations. Freedom of speech is cool and all, but this, unfortunately, is the result and it will only get worse when the Internet generation become full adults.

I love porn and have never even thought of raping or sexually assaulting anyone. Get out of here with your BS.

I wouldn't classify a 17yo male banging a couple good looking 20 something's as rape or assault.

More like a teenagers wet dream.

Age of consent is established because the government feels this is the age a person can make a sound adult decision on who they do or do not have sex with. What does it matter what persons's occupation is & why are repercussions one sided?

I really do not see it being any different than if I had sex with an 18 y/o that worked at my place of employment. I am upper management, and I would be in a position of power over that 18 y/o subordinate. Therefore, I would be seen as 'taking advantage' of her since I could influence her future employment, promotions, etc. Would I go to jail? No. Would I lose my job and have a very difficult time finding another job in the same capacity? Absolutely.

Same reason why officers are not allowed to have a relationship with enlisted in the military. Does it happen? Absolutely. If they are found out, will there be repercussions? Absolutely.

I also understand that "legal age" may be 16, but in a school setting, I just cannot see where that could be deemed as "ok".

I wonder how your response would have differed if the male student had been a female? No longer a wet dream? More like a disgusting pediophile, huh?

31 states have age of consent at 16, while 8 more have it at 17. So not really.

Besides, it's cultural, my wife's grandmother was married at 13. Disgusting for me to think about but they are still alive and happily married more than 60 years later.

Of course not, I'd want them castrated. But I also freely admit in practicing double standards.

This has already been covered.

Bet you were a blast to hang around in school.

Besides, a pedophile is someone sexually attracted to prepubescents. If your daughter hasn't hit puberty by 17, you should take her to a doctor.

The word you're looking for is ephebophile.

Like Bo Burnham said. Multiplication is like girls, of they're under 13, just do em in your head.

Okay, I thought it was funny

Actually, I think it is the mindset of the average teacher. Many I know seem to have low self esteem and not much social life. There lives revolve around the classroom and their students and they rely on those relationships for their self actualization. Consequently, I'm never surprised to see one take one of those relationships beyond the acceptable boundaries.

Makes sense
