Another reported assault

and if every single thing in there is factually accurate?

All the story is is her story. She offers no witnesses on her behalf no physical evidence to the paper. Their story is her accusation and UTs appeared " incompetence" which is easy to show knowing the school can't disclose anything.

It shouldn't. Each case is its on. Just because you know someone abused doesn't make everyone accused guilty.

And just because you know of a girl who falsely accused someone doesn't mean that other victims should be scrutinized.

I say this because that happened to a close friend of mine at UT. The girl went to UT about it. She was a virgin and the night before Labor Day a few years back she got drunk at his apartment in Andy Holt. She blacked out, went into his room, came back out to ask if he was coming in too. He went in, they fooled around, then she got on top of him, inserted him into her, and she rode him. The next morning she left and the following evening (Tuesday night), he was pulled out of a class by investigators. He ended up winning the case because he was sober and he had other people in the apartment as well to corroborate her actions.

But doesn't every claim have to be scrutinized to make sure it's accurate. And note I said claim not person.

People are employed to do that. What you see here people trying to look for any way that their guy could be innocent.

She wasn't the first who ever rode a guy in Andy Holt Apts. I moved in when it first opened in Fall quarter 1970. The sheetrock work wasn't totally finished.

EVERY accuser should be held to standards. Our legal system protects the accused. If the accuser has a strong case, it will stand scrutny.

Y'all act like this happened a week ago and shes writing a damn tell-all. The incident occurred 6 months ago and, from her vantage point, she was raped and the authorities put in place to handle such cases didn't do their jobs properly.

The reason none of you have heard any of this is because, for one reason or another, she didn't want to press changes. The immediate assumption for that is wanting the ordeal to be over quickly and that she was simply looking to get him away from her, but not trying to ruin his future.

Again sir, it would not be appropriate for Butch Jones to kick a player off the team or for the University to expel students `when there is no evidence to show her allegations were true. (And before you attack me for siding with the alleged assailant; I'm not. I am siding with a process that requires evidence before convicting people.) The result of the University's investigation from what we know did not support her version. I hope we never see a day in this country where people are severely punished on nothing more than the standard someone made an allegation. At this point that is all you appear to be basing your vitriol on. She said she was raped so therefore she must have been. For your sake I hope you are never wrongly accused of a crime while in a country where that is the legal standard. Perhaps you know this young lady and believe her. That would explain your inability to see the other side and to understand that she should not get what she wants without something to meet the legal standards even administrative law requires. If she was really raped I wish she had gone to law enforcement. But without benefit of evidence we may never know the truth. If evidence does come out at some point to substantiate her being raped, I hope the player is not only kicked off the team but gets run over by a train. but without anything else than just her unsupported story no action should be taken by anyone, including CBJ.

This assumption is very fair.

I'm very close to a sexual assault victim who was assaulted by another student while in college... and these were close to her exact words on why she never reported it. She just wanted to forget it and move on with life... but it wasn't that easy.

It crippled her every time she would see him around campus.... a constant reminder of the terror and fear.

But she also didn't want to be responsible for sending someone through a criminal process, getting kicked out of school, and essentially see their life flushed down the drain for one error.

I didn't find out until years later... and I think not reporting it was a mistake. I think she does now too.

then the victim can go to police and it will be proven if UT did sweep it under the rug they will pay a hefty price. People will lose their jobs who have no interest in the success of the football team.

But what if she's lying? What if she wanted to have sex with this guy all along? She evidently went to his room voluntary. What If she had regrets two days later when her friends were talking about her activity? The fact that she doesn't want to pursue the truth damages her story.

All accusers, no matter the crime, need to be scrutinized... esp. in rape cases. Just the accusation itself on a man can ruin his life and take away his freedoms.

I would rather see ten rapists set free than see one innocent man go to jail over a lack of due process.

CR - Derek T Just reminded me who you were - hope you are doing well.

It has been nice having a teammate fighting for sexual assault awareness with you today....I just wish we didn't have to fight it.

I'm not looking for anyone to be declared innocent but with the only evidence being her accusation, and he has two witnesses that state she didn't appear drunk and she had pursued him at the party, then how on earth can you say he's guilty? Because some friend of yours 20 yrs ago was raped? that's just bull****.

If I was the father, I'd be more interested in finding out the facts than who's running thru the T.

Big problem I have with this article, it states that the assault occurred three weeks into her semester which would put the date of the allegation right around Saturday the 30th of August(the night of the Ark State game). However, it didn't state that the charges were dropped on the player until 5 weeks later. Butch has shown us previously that while an investigation is pending, players are suspended indefinitely. Who was away from the team for 5 weeks during the season without any of us, the media, etc. noticing that is still in good standing with the team?

Also the author of this article has several different pieces attacking Tennessee players (Jalen Hurd for his alcohol citation among others). That along with the article being written in an incredibly jaded perspective steering the audience to finish reading and have the conclusion that what the University did was a cover-up. Its very shady.

I'd say 99-100% of the VN posters in this thread would want a rapist to be severely punished if not hung. Your "fight" seems to be against evidence and due process though. Both you and Crusse 10 seem to automatically believe the alleged victim's version while convicting UT even though their has been no proof it happened as she now tells the reporter. As I said a few posts back; I have spent well over 3 decades around evil people. I have no sympathy for criminals of any type but particularly despise rapists so my "fight" today is not to support them. I have learned to value due process however as I said earlier there are many, many cases where the truth was far from the initial allegation. And no, I didn't track and maintain graphs showing percentages. Suffice to say it is not uncommon. And as many have pointed out already remember the Duke lacrosse players or the Rolling Stones case recently. Remember Tawana Brawley?

I agree. Butch may need to revamp the ole recruiting profile.

(Hey Leb, of all players accused of sexual assault, none of them were recruited by Butch. So maybe instead of trying to continuously stir the pot you do your research. I know I'm not the only one that's tired of it)

The fact of the matter is that this girl isn't you and what she decided 2 days after she says she was raped was to talk to her RA in her dorm. The RA surely discussed the two options with her, police or through the University. She chose the latter. It's as simple as that.
But why she chose the latter is not so simple. Going to the cops would have brought an investigation into underage drinking, who was hosting this party, who was supplying alcohol to underage drinkers, etc. Couldn't that have played a role as to why she didn't go to KPD?

Do you know who was accused of sexual assault in this thread/story? I don't think a name was provided. How do you know it wasn't a kid signed in the last 2 years?

Riyad Jones signed in Butch's 1st class.

Tell ya what. I'll keep stirring the pot and maybe the answer will surface between the beef and the veggies.

LOL

While not going to the police initially and even now doesn't completely destroy her case, the lack of even one witness to support her accusation does. None of her friends appear to be a witness and if she went to the party alone probably supports the witnesses that says she pursued him.

While these athletes do have an entitled mentality often, there are also a large number of young women who are aggressively pursuing these athletes.
