I have now read this entire thread and feel like beating my head on a brick wall. To start with just retiring after 33 years in the criminal justice system I despise those guilty of rape as much or more than anyone. I would as one poster said support castration and worse IF GUILTY. My problem with every one of your posts is that with only sketchy allegations from one side you not only convicted and condemned an unknown football player, the coach and every poster in this thread who tried to point out that all we have is one side of an allegation as represented by a reporter with some history of bias. You don't know this girl was raped but have convicted UT and the football player. Your quoted response above illustrates all your posts as I don't recall one poster referring to the alleged victim as a slut. What I have read is a lot of people asking rreasonable questions. I have known of many cases of false allegations being made so while I wish the worst for guilty parties I also realize from my long experience in the field that there is a reason our founders established a system of due process. Too often a young lady gives consent only to make false allegations later if her boyfriend found out or maybe it was an interracial event and she realized family or friends would give her hell if it got out. Ever known that to occur? I have. Those things could explain why she didn't go to the police. There is also a level of inebriation which is not at the level of "unable to give consent" but where inhibitions are lowered to the point they can consent to something or someone they might regret the next day. Rape is a horrible act but you sir need to stop attacking everyone not agreeing to burn the unknown player at the stake just because an allegation was made. Butch has shown he will act decisively. Thankfully everyone is not as quick to convict as you are without actual evidence. And with the current level of federal scrutiny and media scrutiny it is highly unlikely UT put themselves at risk to protect a ball player.
I'm not complaining. Just so you know, girl could have lied. I hate when we assume guilt. Witnesses say that her story didn't add up. Doesn't seem like guilty evidence to me. Move on, nothing to see here.
Lastly, one common denominator in all of this crap is alcohol. For the love of pete, parents inform children that bad stuff does happen when you drink. Not every drinking sich results in a bud light commercial.
There's a reason there is a drinking age.
I didn't bring up Kiffin.I would take note of the fact that we have an accuser who would rather tell her story to the media than to the police whether she was in Tallahassee or Knoxville...and there are no similarities to what Kiffin and Reaves were doing to rape. I suppose you could call it prostitution but Lacey Pearl was certainly a willing participant in whatever was going on as her facebook post "I recruit champions. Thank me later!" suggests.
Y'all act like this happened a week ago and shes writing a damn tell-all. The incident occurred 6 months ago and, from her vantage point, she was raped and the authorities put in place to handle such cases didn't do their jobs properly.
The reason none of you have heard any of this is because, for one reason or another, she didn't want to press changes. The immediate assumption for that is wanting the ordeal to be over quickly and that she was simply looking to get him away from her, but not trying to ruin his future.

That makes no sense to me.
I honestly don't know what some people wanted The Tennessean to do. What more information could they have included that would make it "better"? Surely no one wants the names of either party printed, right? So other than that, the article contained evidence gathered from the University that tends to corroborate the story of the player (his statements, two witness saying she wasn't intoxicated). It gave her an opportunity to tell her side. Talked to her dad, and named sources and gave direct quotes from UT that gave their explanation and findings. What's missing from the article?
The reason some on here are pissed is because the University didn't come off looking great, and that's because frankly, they didn't handle it great. There very well may be a valid reason for why UT deviated from their normal policy. But what is it? Why couldn't UT just answer that question, to either the family or the reporter? Meaning no disrespect to the girl, her family, or the player- that's why this story is going to have legs. That the admin felt like there was a particular element in this case that warranted someone else handling it, and then didn't want to disclose the reasoning behind that decision. Hell, why not just say it was a staffing problem or calendar issue or whatever. If you are a state school, you can't just not disclose something like that and not expect there to be a lot of follow up questions.
Months ago I read somewhere that the process within the school is much less intensive for the victim. There isn't as much poking and prodding and start-to-finish is a much shorter timeline. From the sound of it, she just wanted everything finished and him out of her life. It doesn't seem like she cared that he was in prison as long as he wasn't affecting her life anymore.
Tennessean did the "Ready, fire, aim" method. No way could the University disclose much of anything. They are obligated to protect the girl and young mans privacy. If your a parent, you'll learn. The school will tell you up front they can't even share information about grades, health or legal action of the student with you even though you pay the bill. They sure as hell can't the newspaper.
"Him" being kicked out of school doesn't keep him out of her life. Him getting kicked out of school doesn't finish anything. Being kicked out of school isn't like an order of protection.
Sorry. As a woman, if I had been raped the last thing I would think of is getting the rapist fired from him job at the company I worked for. This makes zero sense to me. If I was raped, I wouldn't give a damn what the school did, I'd be going to the police.
