You guys quoted four people. Give me a break. I had one normal personal response to a personal experience and the rest are high profiles. I'm just saying in my experience I don't hear too many folks being locked away for perjury.
No, there isn't enough space in jails or money to lock people up for perjury plus it's hard to prosecute. However, if it wasn't illegal why would any witness bother to tell the truth?
The civil suit would be my choice to attack for false accusations. If they have nothing I guess your screwed so to speak.:cray::cray:I'm just saying, perjury is a joke. I agree you must have a law for it, but I don't think it stops anybody. Look at it like this, person is going to jail and the only thing that can save them is lying. Well perjury isn't stopping them. Also, if a person is wrongfully accused you never hear the "victim" brought up on purjury charges.
Reading through some of this garbage, I've come to this conclusion: Anytime a rape is reported to UTPD, the KPD should immediately be called in. The alleged victim should be immediately taken to the hospital to have a rape kit run and an investigation begun. The sooner they get started, the better.
I'm assuming UT still has Freshmen Orientation. Rape awareness classes should be mandatory for all incoming freshmen, men and women. It should be stressed that if you feel you have been violated in any way, you should report it immediately. Whether the person you are accusing is Joe Schmo, the star QB, or a tenured professor, if you want justice, report it immediately. The longer you wait, the more the evidence deteriorates, the less likely you are to find justice. It's hard for police to do their job off of she said/he said testimony. Physical evidence helps more than anything else in a case.
Apparently, since no one seems to want to take responsibility for their own actions anymore, alcohol awareness classes need to be mandatory as well. I'm tired of hearing this "they're young kids, off on their own, having fun" BS. Rape isn't fun. Women especially need to be mentored about putting themselves in high risk situations. No, they shouldn't have to hide themselves away, but they also don't need to drink themselves into states of becoming easy prey. It may be unfortunate, but in the world we live in, women need to be taught to protect themselves. If you want to drink yourself stupid, do it where you're only surrounded by other women, otherwise, learn your limits and show some self control. Stop drinking so much you can't even remember if you said yes or not.
The men need to be taught to be respectful of their female counterparts. Drinking and sex isn't going to go away, but it should be stressed that men show self control and not take advantage of vulnerable women. That was a lesson my parents taught me early in life, but apparently, many parents have stopped teaching that lesson, so now it's up to the university to step in and at least attempt to teach the lesson. If it saves one girl from the trauma of rape, it's worth it. And like I said with women, if you want to drink yourself stupid, do it with your friends. Drink responsibly in the presence of females.
Hopefully he has already done so, but if he hasn't, Butch needs to address the team about this specifically. He needs to teach these young men to avoid these situations. Act responsibly and represent your team with honor, on and off the field.
We can sit and discuss cases like this all day long, but judgement should always be reserved. Accusations of rape should be investigated thoroughly. Victims of rape are scarred for life. On the opposite side, victims of false rape allegations have been burdened with always carrying that stigma with them. Many forget allegation does not equal guilt. None of us know the truth of the case, so we shouldn't pretend that we do.

Yes and that makes no sense. If a person is going to report a crime to anyone, you start with the police. I stand by what I said. Very little scrutiny was given to the fact that the police have not been notified of this incident.
Would/did you have the same attitude concerning the student-athlete(s) in the Vandy sexual assault case?
Most people who are 35 or older as I am do not understand the dynamics of how these young people meet, date or otherwise. It is the most backward thing I have ever seen. Sexual expectations and the lack of respect for women in general is unbelievable. Girls have now become the aggressors in dating and sexual relationships. That's backwards from how things have ever been. It's not better.... its worse. Add in the music these kids listen to that glorifies sex and no respect for females... this is what happens. This young lady may truly be a victim. I know their are those girls who have this twisted sexual lifestyle of sex with whoever whenever. The only way to stop these assaults is thru education. These girls should never drink anything they don't open themselves. They should never place themselves in situations where they are alone with anyone at a party that they do not know well. Require respect and respect yourself. The girls have to take responsibility for actions that lead to these assaults. The boys who commit these assaults or rapes are criminals and should be prosecuted. But if the victim is intoxicated and alone with someone the do not know. The burden of proof falls not to the proof of if they had sex but if it was consensual. That is close to impossible in a setting where everyone is intoxicated. Like I said EDUCATION for the girls. The University used to had rape education program taught by UT Police. Not sure if that happens still.
bottom line is if she said no it's done your guilty......law changed in the 60's from the woman had to prove that she physically resisted to her will and if it's NO your done. Still got to be proved...the old cell phone is a great tool for coppers to prove it:mf_surrender:Finally, a sign that someone knows whats going on out there. Hell, Im 60 but Im around young people alot and Ive witnessed young girls basically challenging young men to have sex with them. Ive witnessed some of these "lil darlings" sneaking in apts at 3am looking for someone.....even in the vandy trial, the testimony was Batey's girlfriend came over to his place at 3:30am to spend the rest of the night with him AFTER the attack! She comes from a "prominent" Nashville family according to Batey. Wonder if her daddy knew what she was up to? There will be a lot of things come out like this at trial if Williams and Johnson go to trial (and I think it will).
