Ament will improve

If you think Ament is going to dramatically improve by February then I’ll sell you some beach front property in Idaho.

Also, in your words - please elaborate on his talent. Everything he does Ok is relative to his height. If he was 6’8 he would hardly be a D1 player.

I had moments of weakness and wavered during the Texas game, but making declarative statements on an 18-year old prospect in his first few games in early November was always very silly lol.
Yea, all I said then was give him a chance. I don’t know why fans make the same mistakes- you can’t declare a player a failure until you let him play through a season. Especially an 18 year old freshman. You could see the talent early- it was always there. His stroke was good.

lol who’s not accepting that?
Oh I'm sorry let me be more precise. All the pissing and moaning some of the basketball gurus done by saying Ament is to slow, not strong enough and why did we give this guy such a huge NIL deal need to apologize about their comments earlier in season.

It’s dumb in both directions, I’m not declaring the kid a star after this great stretch, I want to see more, but I also wasn’t declaring him a bust when…

1. Anyone with eyes saw flashes and things he’d do that you can’t teach and

2. We heard over and over how he would need to develop and that we’d need to be patient and likely wait until February/March to see a different version of him

We heard that all he needed was time to develop and that he was playing at the 5 in high school which he won't be playing here. Still questioned it and said he wasn't good. I think maybe because of how some of the other Freshman phenoms where playing had the fan base questioning his skills. He has the highest ceiling out of all the Freshmen he can dribble at 6 10/11 and can spread the defense with his shot. He is KD it just too him time to get adjusted. Now teams are literally gonna try and break him cause he is starting to realize who he is. Just think if he doesn't get hurt yesterday or take more than 7 shots against Kentucky. He might have finished with 40 and we probably would have won against Kensucky

Do you understand IMO verses making statement of fact?
Yes everybody knows IMO is a code for I can justify unnecessary snarky analysis due to free speech rules in social media. Then take exception to others sharing their OPINIONS about the practice.

Coach has seen a lot of players and has been pretty clear in his EXPERT anslysis that Ament has an extraordinary CEILING, even though he had a lower floor than other notable freshmen this year. His relative lack of body mass provides him the POTENTIAL to improve and maintsin greater twitch, speed, elevation and handle than his height peers.

On top of that he has never needed to justify any lack of character and class during his adjustment and development. THUS Coach played him through the rough spots.

This team still has too many unproductive stretches and discussing them is certainly in play, but how that is done is a factor. For the team and as individuals.

The application of the opinion card is an attempt at justification that others are not required to accept. Especially self professed old farts like me. It no more changes the posts than you can change the stats in a game. Both in plain view.

What are you talking about? My opinion offered wasn’t “unnecessary snarky analysis”. It was an observation about a part of the game that doesn’t have easily accessible stats like rebounds, points, steals, blocks. Also, it’s an opinion I still hold that his passing and defense development are behind his scoring and rebounding development. Maybe you and others will disagree which is fine as it’s just my observation from watching the games. Ament has clearly turned a corner and rounding into the player Barnes talked about in preseason, but he’s not yet playing consistently at an all American level in all aspects of the game. I’m really glad he’s on our team and hope he can remain healthy for the final stretch of the season to see how far he improves.
