Ament needs at least another year

he should've been redshirted ..if you have followed him this year well then you should know why....

This is pointless. You think Ament would have committed anywhere if he figured they would redshirt him lol? Not to mention even if you redshirt him he can still go pro after the season is over and then you paid him to sit on the bench and get nothing out of him.

Another year would help him immensely. He has same body frame as Ben Simmons. Simmons needed more weight and seasoning in college and he busted.

Ben Simmons was ROY, went #1 and made an All-NBA before the end of his rookie contract and weighed 230 lbs coming out college WTF are you talking about

We should have redshirted the guy that averaged 17/8 and was maybe the best player in the SEC not named Darius Acuff for about 3 weeks. Brilliant!

Returning for another year would give him time not only to develop his body but also play 30+ minutes per game as the number one scoring option. I doubt he’ll come by that opportunity in the NBA without becoming phenomenal like Giannis. There are many great scorers in the NBA who will get yanked if they start trying to win one on one battles because the fans pay to see the franchise player pull that off.

Only lottery picks like Cameron Tatum and Zion Williamson get to try to be “the guy” from day one. That’s where my heart would be. Choosing on whether I wanted to be a role player for the next 3 years or if I wanted to be a Wooden Award favorite from day 1 and having a long shot of getting to be “the man” from day one in the NBA.

Ament will most likely do just fine either way.

Cameron Tatum? Pearl’s riding dirty on New Year’s Day guy?

College shooting is such a small sample size. If Nate hit one more shot a game, (20 2’s, 10 3’s) you’re now talking 48/40/80 splits for a 6’10/215 guy at 18 and everyone is talking completely different

I can agree with this. It's a reason I don't watch the NBA anymore. It's a season of exhibition basketball. It's why we partially struggle in international play when other countries don't allow USA to just run up and down the court jacking up shots exactly them to be in on the act.

He was rail thin and needed more time in college. He was an epic bust in NBA. Needed to be a stronger player. Ament like it or not needs another year. He can go in top 3 and make a hell of a lot more money than pick 11 or 12. It does matter.

I just hate the reasoning some folks try to use.

Nate was 13th in the SEC in PPG, 14th in RPG, 10th in DRPG, 2nd in FTs, 4th in FTAs

He was the 2nd best freshman in the SEC this season...and all NBA folks are going to see is "he can get bigger, stronger, and better still"

Everything that's said about him coming back for another season always has one of these words attached to it "could" and/or "if"

This isn't a Dalton or Chaz situation...Nate was on NBA draft boards before ever coming to college, he's done nothing while here to change that.

I know it sounds like some fans just want him to go for some reason. Many nba draft folks have stated him coming back to college would be good for his game. Difference in salary per year between pick 3 and 10 is about 8 million a year. Hough at Florida could have left last year and improved his game.

1. Ben Simmons missed his first season in the NBA with an injury
2. Ben Simmons had 4 good years in a row, 3 time all star, ROY in first year, and 2 time all defensive
3. the back injury after being traded derailed his career...not a Bust at all

Haugh from Florida was averaging 10 ppg, and 6 rpg off the bench...not even close to a good comparison.

His best year (this season) happened for Nate already as a true freshmen that's 3 years younger and 2" taller with more length/upside.

you obviously have never actually followed Ben Simmons career. An “epic bust” doesn’t make it to a 3rd contract in their NBA career while making $200+ million at the same time.

My goodness the scouts sitting at home are really exposing themselves in this thread.

I thought the point was you can get better quicker by going to the NBA. G league or starting rotation. How is it different?

Ok let’s state some facts:
- The difference between the 3rd pick and the 10th pick is NOT $8 million per year. Last year, it was roughly $4 million per year.
- Ben Simmons was 240 pounds at LSU. He was the first pick, so it was a no-brainer. He didn’t have longevity because of his frame- he couldn’t shoot the ball.
- I certainly don’t want Nate to go, but people make this too difficult. It’s common sense for him to get picked in the lottery and develop his game at the pro level.

Haugh is a late bloomer, he even delayed college for an extra year in prep school which is why he's 22 right now turning 23 in a few months as a Junior. He was on zero radars in the NBA out of HS or after last season. Now he could come out after this year...which he probably should because of his age...even if he goes undrafted he's not helping his draft stock with another season at Florida.

But the reason WHY it's different is because a lottery pick (like Nate) is going to have a guaranteed contract for 2-3 years...an undrafted player (like Haugh after last season) wouldn't have that...so the ability to develop would be more challenging and risky compared to returning to Florida to be a starter.

Lottery picks are top 14...the Rookie Scale for this upcoming season....so anywhere in the top 14 is going to pay Nate more than he got here if you believe the high NIL estimates

I did not know it was top 14. 14th overall feels more like a scratch off ticket than the mega millions.

Yeah, and most mocks I've seen have Nate going in the top 10.

I also expect Nate's measurements at the combine to likely help his cause. Quite a few mocks still have him as a 6'9" 190lbs...should be a legit 6'10" and ~210 pounds, plus wingspan and standing reach are going to be tops.
