Alvin Kamara Appreciation Thread (merged)

I wish Peyton had not backed down from a fine. As a Colts quarterback, he wanted to wear black high tops in honor of Johnny Unitas just after he died. He was threatened with a fine and decided it wasn't worth it. I applaud Kamera and his idea to turn this into something positive by creating a charity.

Coming from you, that means I'm right

Keep believing that. Your posts and others like them in this thread show why the players think the way they do. It proves there is clearly a long way to go. This is even more true for those in your profession

I didn’t miss a damn thing, it’s the exact point you are making. Rich pro athletes as “proof” that there is no oppression or injustice

Proof that if you dedicate yourself and work hard enough, you can accomplish anything you want

Is life always fair? No

It's never going to be fair. Sitting back and expecting anyone to give you anything is just a recipe for disappointment

Are minorities the only people born poor and at a disadvantage?

You still missed the point

Again, how did these athletes get to this point in their lives?

A little hint for you. It's the foundation of any successful person in the world

You think because black people can have success that they didn't face racist bigots getting there and staying there? Anyone that believes racism does not exist because black people can make money are completely ignorant fools.

So that’s why the NFL has almost 50% of players with a felony!

Good to know we lowly plebes who watch them aren’t as important as the whiny millionaires who can beat up theur wife and still hold down their cushy job

Don’t be mad at me that you and I are less valuable to who we work for.

When MLK complained about treatment of black people, you think we should have just said, “get over it, life isn’t fair. Look at these 10 black people who succeeded anyway.” Amirite?

It’s just my thoughts on this whole thing but there is a huge difference between injustice and oppression .... injustice can and does go on everywhere around the world but oppression , if you are truly oppressed in the United States and I’m not talking about the word that gets tossed around like a hot potatoe daily I’m talking about being an oppressed human being living in the United States then something terrible beyond your control has happened ( beaten , thrown into a locked room , made to do things against your will ) . Screaming I’m a certain race and therefore oppressed cheapens the true meaning of the word and does a huge disservice to the ones in other countries that actually are . We have it so good in this country that sit around and think we are suffering like a 3rd world country . Just my 2 pennies worth .

If your first instinct is to make this anything about left vs right, you should step away from the political news and consider that maybe, just maybe, you've become a radicalized psycho.

Let's just say, I have done more to help minority communities in my 20 years than most of all the SJW combined will ever do to help

I know the people that think like you won't ever believe that because your bias is against LE. But the truth is, plenty of us, who do it right, go into these neighborhoods to try and help. Are we perfect? No

Are mistakes made? Yes

But I will never apologize to you or anyone for doing my job.

Dear Lord

You don't have a clue what oppression really is, do you?

In my opinion, this is only a symptom of the inherent rejection of God in society. This rejection of God and acceptance of postmodernist ideology has not helped things, but rather hurt things.

These NFL players give back plenty to those same communities yet you seem to want them to apologize. They are speaking for those they know who don't have the same voice or platform

I'm not anti-le, I'm anti bad LE enforcing bad laws. Laws that create inequalities and barriers before the kids can truly get started. Hard work can't overcome many of those no matter how much you want it to be so

Who says it doesn't exist?

But you would have to also agree that people have used the race card too often. Not everything that is bad in your life is because of race. Most of the time it's because of poor decisions made in life

Which laws, in-particular, create these barriers?

Crime rates, sexual assault, rape, and mass shootings are all at a high. The world we live in now is not the same world we lived in even 10 years ago.

In the US? May want to check your stats again

Actually, violent crime as a whole, is down

It's just because you see it splattered all over TV everyday, would make you think it's worse than it actually is

Just like other things the media likes to exploit and the reason for this thread

Sexual assault and mass shootings are at an all time high. While rape and crime may not be, they are still overall trending upward.

“Violent crime, however, is about 0.7 percent lower than five years ago, and 16.5 percent lower than a decade ago. The violent crime rate – nearly 373 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants in the U.S. – is almost half the 20-year high reached in 1996.”

Sounds like the rejection of God is going pretty well.

They are not kneeling to protest the flag like most of you have made up. They are protesting racial injustice. You are allowed to not like it but saying they are protesting the flag is a lie. It is used to get people on your side because if you say "protesting racial injustice during the anthem is not American" you would gain no ground. There is no rule or law requiring players to have any involvement with the anthem which is why no fines or suspensions have been levied against any player for doing it.

Kamara was not fined because he wore Christmas shoes. He was fined because he violated the NFL's uniform policy for his shoes not matching his uniform. I personally think six thousand dollars for it is overkill but it is not part of the imaginary war on Christmas some think it is.
