It really didn’t matter. Heupel called way too conservative of a game to win. Way too many between the tackle runs. Our passing game is really good but didn’t go to it enough. Also, I still can’t believe we punted on 4th and 1 from mid field while losing. That’s a gutless call. Players have to see confidence to believe they can win. They didn’t see that from their leader tinught
Ok, I’ll have a go at it.
More aggressive gameplan and less runs up the middle when the box is stacked. Is Hooker running the RPO correctly? Coach him up if he is not. Go for it on 4th down when we you are trying to stay competitively in a game with a team that has more talent and depth across the board. Never concede defeat by trying to keep the score respectable versus trying to win the game. Heupel has the team playing with heart and I like his offensive scheme. It can be prolific at times like we have seen, however the TOP is killing the defense. For every good drive , we have a three and out or two. Need to improve there. Too many penalties, Execution needs to improve and find a solution. Banks makes a good play every now and then but is a liability overall. Beasley is not a D1 linebacker. Play extra Db’s against mobile Qb’s since our linebackers are too slow to contain them. Additional points to come later.
I like what Heupel has done. Hope he can recruit to the levels as Alabama and Georgia. I feel like we let two games get away from us(Ole Miss and Pitt). Last week we were a better team than Ole Miss but failure of the coaching staff to make the adjustments to contain Corral cost us the game. Perfection on a given day is nearly impossible but improvement is especially when you have outplayed an opponent like Ole Miss and fail to make the necessary adjustments to contain the one guy who single handedly beat you.So what level of perfection are you looking for? Heupel is doing a very good job with the hand he was dealt. We knew UT had very little experience on the OL. Now they're playing without their best two OL's- Calbert and Mays. Both RB's are playing hurt.
At the end of this game, coaches were coaching and players were playing like it mattered without looking at the scoreboard. Honestly... that's really the first time I've seen that as a UT fan. Even under Fulmer they collapsed repeatedly when top opponents got a big lead on them.
Heupel needs more talented guys with more experience. No coach is going to have the perfection you seem to be looking for. Saban doesn't. His talent covers a multitude of flaws.

Because they aren’t the 92 Bama defense, doesn’t mean that they played poorly. Tennessee played higher than their normal capabilities and CJH and Banks did a great job coaching. This isn't a vintage Bama team. That defense is real shaky. They could lose to Auburn or even Arkansas. I think Georgia is going to kill them, if Bama makes it to Atlanta.

I think we buy way too much into the refs conspiracy. I do know it is easy to latch onto that and we are triggered on every bad call as rationale for why we lose. We don’t have the talent, depth, and programmatic consistency. Our team and coaches are playing great and probably above what they should be right now. We can get there if we just stick with one coach for a while and bring in more Jimmys and Joes.
One instance of holding that went uncalled made it very obvious to me that these refs weren’t looking to cause any problems for Bama. It was during an instant replay for the television guys to point out something else that took place on a particular play. Young was getting pressure from his front side, and they were using the telestrator to show his blocking lanes. But totally ignored coming in from the blind side, an Alabama OL was holding a Tennessee rusher from behind, with both hands in his neck pad/horse collar area. The play didn’t take place in traffic-it was in the open, with an official no more than five yards away. I really don’t like being the type of fan who constantly cries about the officiating, but some of the nonsense that we have been in the wrong side of this season does make me seriously question the integrity of some of the officials involved.Bama doesn’t get called for holding….. ever

Alabama's safeties did not play well, very undisciplined. That appears to be who they are at this point. Hooker took advantage on multiple occasions, we are getting good QB play out of him. Very good.Because they aren’t the 92 Bama defense, doesn’t mean that they played poorly. Tennessee played higher than their normal capabilities and CJH and Banks did a great job coaching.
It's kind of pick your poison with Corral. That guy is good. Sometimes you've just got to tip your hat. Truly stopping him would require high level execution and athletes on defense we really just don't have at this point in time.I like what Heupel has done. I’d like to see the stats on all of the SEC teams and the number of holding calls on each. It’s been going on for years…. Bama never holds against any of the SEC teamsOne instance of holding that went uncalled made it very obvious to me that these refs weren’t looking to cause any problems for Bama.
