Adidas Contract and Dave Hart

UT has deep pockets and we obviously have money to blow. UT is a football school. And it does mean something. Winning is everything. And until were ranked and knocking heads at the top we are 2nd tier.Posted via VolNation Mobile

Wait wait wait hold on just a sec. Please correct me if I am misunderstanding you (and I hope I am) but are you saying that in order to go with Nike, we should just go along with their opinion that we are a "second tier" program and ALLOW them to treat us worse than what Adidas does, JUST to have the swoosh on the jersey?

"Yeah, yeah you're right Nike. We DO suck as a program so here, let us bend over and let you kick us in the ass again, all for the priveledge of getting to wear your logo."

Hell no!! I don't care what our record has been the last few years, we are STILL going to conduct ourselves as an elite program and we are going to demand that the companies that work FOR US do the same!!!

Up until this year I had hoped for Nike b/c our uniforms and helmets never matched, but this year's outfits are spot on so I hope they stay with Adidas.

Disclaimer: I have no problem with Adidas, and I think the changes that Dooley mandated with the uniforms really put them over the top this year.

Disclaimer: I do not like every Nike Pro Combat uniform that they trot out.

Disclaimer: I do not think we should sign a contract where we don't have control over the way our uniforms are designed or sign a contract that does not benefit the university.

Now, all that being said, here's why I'm curious about our Adidas contract and when it ends. I know it's been discussed before, but I don't recall the date and can't find anything from a solid source.

If all three of our coaches stick for an extended period of time (which I expect all to do with Martin being the only concern) the negotiation of this contract could be Hart's first major decision at UT.

His last two stops have been Nike schools, so I wonder if he'll be inclined to give them a look first to see if they still view Tennessee as a 2nd tier program. I'm all for something different every now and again, but it needs to fit the Tennessee look and the AD needs to have control over the uniforms in my opinion.

Would love for DeerPark to weigh in on this one as he probably has a solid date for when the contract is up for negotiation.

I like this year's unis better than any we have had, at least better thab any i have seen in the 65 years I have been watching Tennessee football.

Gads! Who was it?

Sorry - but you asked to know...

Whoever started this "Nike considers us 2nd-tier" bullcrap is an idiot. Nike has Middle Tennessee....people please stop just making things up.

I don't want Nike at all, I like Adidas. They want to pay us more money and keep our tradition the same....Nike wants to change everyone to something ridiculous and stupid.

Why do we keep bringing this topic up?

it's not made up when it's part of the contract offered. Schools are on different levels and treated differently by Nike. Is that really so hard to believe?

Don't mean to hijack the thread but,......anyone wanna' comment on those God awful unis' that Maryland wore last night against Miami.
Please .....never let UT wear something like that!!!!!!!!!

Since your this idiotic, I decided not to read the rest of your post.

NOOOO, I said we are 2nd tier til we win though. 4th and 5th in the east ain't top notch buddy. Not to mention baseball, basketball. Academically also we may very well be 2nd tier. We are what? A 4-5 star school

so in an effort to make yourself look better you've decided to insult every part of the Univ of TN? Probably not the smartest route. Just curious but did you go to UT?

If we could get a design the way they did one for Notre Dame I would be cool with that, if not it wont kill me, Adidas is cool.

who are you to judge what kind of education UT offers then? You want to take stupid shots at UT feel free but you're going to get called out for it (especially when your posts are full of grammar/spelling errors).

Nike views UT as a lesser school than some others which is a fact. You seem to be ok with that but some of us are not and realize what Adidas does for our school. Take your Nike love somewhere else if it's going to have you insulting my school like you are

Grammer errors, yes. Spelling errors, not unless my phone can't spell. Sorry I don't punctuate on a swype keyboard. But still UT is a 2nd tier program from what I've gathered and that's not me degrading the University. Get real man. You act like Adidas is doing it from the kindness of their heart and that UT needs Adidas when it would do just as good without them. Nike views us as 2nd because that's what we're labeled as. Adidas on the other hand is our business partner they are supposed to were number 1

you took a shot at the AD and then the academics (while blaming your poor spelling on your phone). That is degrading the university. When you do that you start to piss people off that went there and got an education. Since you did not even attend the university you're insulting I should probably just ignore your ignorance but it's hard to do.

all of this has been proven false many times in this discussion but you choose to ignore it. Why is that? Nike labels us a 2nd tier while Adidas labels us 1st tier. Personally I will continue to support a company that views my university as important to their business. I will also support the company that puts the most effort into making UT athletics the best it can be. Here's a hint: that's not Nike

But what do I know since I only graduated from lowly UT

And before speaking on grammer, you might want to brush up on your own

*grammar (you'll thank me later)
