not really how it works Mitch
Um.. how does it not work like that? Nike offers their product, and the customer decides if they want to use it or not. Same for Adidas or whoever, pretty easy to understand.
I'm all for having what the players want. If they want Adidas, then keep them, if they want Nike then I want Nike as well.
It should be up to the players and coaches. I don't really care if "Adidas shirts don't feet me right" or if you "refuse to support Phil Knight". Don't get all :shaking2: just because he has more money than you.
that's only if you're in their 1st tier of teams. As has been explained many times before, UT would not be in that tier and would not have creative control over their uniforms like they do with Adidas. Think about the UGA uniforms in orange when you're advocating Nike
First.. if we don't have control over our designs then I'm still correct. Nike offers us a product, we choose if we like it or not before we sign with them.
Second.. I'm not advocating Nike. Did you read my post about it should be up to the players and coaches?
1) So you think all design ideas would be put on the table before signing a multi-year contract?
2) Players are only there for a short time and should have no say in multi-million dollar contract negotiations. Whether they realize it or not they actually benefit more from Adidas (as does the AD as a whole)
I'm sorry but UGA's jerseys looked like used tampons.I know this is a former player, but apparently many feel like he does.....

Uga jersey are the ish... Tennessee we need to go to Nike... Adidas aint cutting it..."
I wouldn't necessarily mind the Nike uniforms if someone with a little bit of common sense and tradition could control and approve the final product worn on the field.
Disclaimer: I have no problem with Adidas, and I think the changes that Dooley mandated with the uniforms really put them over the top this year.
Disclaimer: I do not like every Nike Pro Combat uniform that they trot out.
Disclaimer: I do not think we should sign a contract where we don't have control over the way our uniforms are designed or sign a contract that does not benefit the university.
Now, all that being said, here's why I'm curious about our Adidas contract and when it ends. I know it's been discussed before, but I don't recall the date and can't find anything from a solid source.
If all three of our coaches stick for an extended period of time (which I expect all to do with Martin being the only concern) the negotiation of this contract could be Hart's first major decision at UT.
His last two stops have been Nike schools, so I wonder if he'll be inclined to give them a look first to see if they still view Tennessee as a 2nd tier program. I'm all for something different every now and again, but it needs to fit the Tennessee look and the AD needs to have control over the uniforms in my opinion.
Would love for DeerPark to weigh in on this one as he probably has a solid date for when the contract is up for negotiation.
God I wish this subject would DIE!! Folks, there is nothing wrong with Adidas. They make great gear. For those crying about the Nike Pro-Combat uniforms, do you honestly think Adidas is incapable of creating something like that?? As if their creative teams somehow lack the talent and ability to come up with gaudy, trashy looking uni's? NO! They work with schools that care about tradition and they don't deviate. Nebraska, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Michigan, UCLA, Texas A&M, etc. These are all great schools with great tradition. Obviously Adidas treats them all well. I wish people would give this subject a rest. Tennessee and Adidas have a great working relationship and that AINT changing anytime soon!
A million dollars.I don't care if they pay us 3 million more. Id rather win games. And its obvious most fans and players would like a change also. Face it. What are you going to lose if we changed?

You know what gets attention? WINNING.Congrats to Nebraska, ND, and Michigan. With the throwback jerseys and the new gloves, all UT can get is for them to get our colors right. Thanks Adidas. I guess we traded the million dollars for attention.

A million dollars.
I must've missed the memo on how Nike makes you more competitive on the field. Your point is asinine.
Congrats to Nebraska, ND, and Michigan. With the throwback jerseys and the new gloves, all UT can get is for them to get our colors right. Thanks Adidas. I guess we traded the million dollars for attention.

Wow! Those are awesome dude!
Just like Nikes style. Hmmmm. They were late with the tech fit too. They copy everyone a yr later bc they can't design what people want.
