Disclaimer: I have no problem with Adidas, and I think the changes that Dooley mandated with the uniforms really put them over the top this year.

Disclaimer: I do not like every Nike Pro Combat uniform that they trot out.

Disclaimer: I do not think we should sign a contract where we don't have control over the way our uniforms are designed or sign a contract that does not benefit the university.

Now, all that being said, here's why I'm curious about our Adidas contract and when it ends. I know it's been discussed before, but I don't recall the date and can't find anything from a solid source.

If all three of our coaches stick for an extended period of time (which I expect all to do with Martin being the only concern) the negotiation of this contract could be Hart's first major decision at UT.

His last two stops have been Nike schools, so I wonder if he'll be inclined to give them a look first to see if they still view Tennessee as a 2nd tier program. I'm all for something different every now and again, but it needs to fit the Tennessee look and the AD needs to have control over the uniforms in my opinion.

Would love for DeerPark to weigh in on this one as he probably has a solid date for when the contract is up for negotiation.

Adidas offers us twice as much as Nike would ever think about offering. We are an Adidas school.

I made a correction to your statement. While I agree that this holds true in the future, I'm interested to see how it's handled with a new AD.

Adidas is great. Who cares anyway? Pretty sure the jersey's will always be orange.

Where did you hear that Nike thought of TN as a 2nd tier program? I heard that Nike made a hard push, but Adidas out bid them. Adidas has Notre Dame and Nebraska, are they 2nd tier?

Only reason I bring it up is it because it could be the first major decision Hart makes as AD. I really wish I had another example to use because of the reaction this thread will get from most people.

I'm a UT fan but if we ever switch to Nike I'm not sure I could buy any apparel, I can't stand nor support Nike.

Stick with Adidas, 90% of UT clothes that I buy are from them and I don't feel like switching.

How are they not? Nebraska has gotten better, but they are far from elite. Notre dame has been 2nd tier now for a while. Jmo.

I was under the impression it has a significant amount of time left on it.

For those looking for something different, we all know TN opens up with NC State (an Adidas school at the moment) in the GA dome next year. Adidas is using the Mich./Notre Dame game (high profile game with two of their high profile schools) to set up an Under The Lights promotion.

Provided NC State re-ups...maybe they'd want to do something like that next fall.

I didn't say they were good, they have their own network (NBC) and they can join any conference they want. Notre Dame is the no.1 marketable college team because of the catholic thing.

+1 UnderArmour

If we are going to switch I would prefer we go with Under Armour simply because I hate...hate hate the pro combat uniforms that Nike forces out. Plus, like the quality or not, kids love ua gear. There is a reason there is now an espn ua all American game.

DeerPark.

I don't believe Notre Dame and Nebraska are 2nd tier programs, but I'm not Nike.

I think we just signed the new contract this year. Don't know how many years before time is up on this contract.

Ah, yes, Under Armour. Purveyors of fine, understated college football uniforms since 2005.

I know this is a former player, but apparently many feel like he does.....

Uga jersey are the ish... Tennessee we need to go to Nike... Adidas aint cutting it..."

I wouldn't necessarily mind the Nike uniforms if someone with a little bit of common sense and tradition could control and approve the final product worn on the field.
