Acceptable win total for 2026

I think it’s probably unrealistic to expect 10 wins with our schedule next year but it will be year 6 for Josh and that’s just how I see it. Anything less than 10 wins almost for sure means no playoffs and just unacceptable in year 6 especially after going 8–5 in 2025. Let me add, looking at our schedule 10 wins seems like a real stretch.
Playoffs are the goal. Number of wins matter only as it realtes to getting in the playoffs.

If we dont achive that, it may not go good for some folks.

So if he makes bad or ineffective decisions there and has a lower win total - say, 7 wins - that absolves him of having not made good, effective decisions and producing say, 9 wins? I don’t get the rationale.

He’s at an inflection point of needing to make good, effective decisions and erasing the dark smudge of 2025.
I find anything less than 9 wins unacceptable every season. But what you find acceptable and what you expect from season to season are two different issues.

Until I see what the roster and coaching staff looks like, I can’t even speculate.
Exactly . Impossible to tell. Plus, everyone is talking about the schedule, but almost half of our SEC games will be against team in their first year under new coaches. I think that bodes well for us. That first 8 games w/o a bye is brutal though.

10 wins. We have 3 of 4 “big” matchups (Texas, Bama, LSU, A&M) at home. You better win 2 of them and also take care of the rest.

And I’m OK if that doesn’t make it into the playoffs. I think it would, but you never know.
At the very least you better be right on the edge.

I’m done with bridge years. Or “oh this QB needs time to learn.” Or “this DC’s scheme takes a couple of years to successfully implement.”

Win games.

Dude 😂, I used to try and predict it based off of returning players, developing players, etc…now…there’s no telling. You can have the best coaches and go 3-8. The kids don’t get in the feels about wearing that T on the helmet, it’s the money. If I had to guess, about 7 wins.

Acceptable vs Probable....I just don't see any scenario other than fully re-tooled D in trenches and DB, and at least a middle of SEC pack QB, that we exceed 8 wins. At present, I think it's more likely that we are 6-6 than we are 9-3.

Furman-Win
GT- Tough, but think we win
Kennesaw-Win
Texas-Loss
Auburn- Win because its at home
Ark-Win
Bama- Tough to say, going to lean slight towards Win being home, even more so if Ty leaves
SC- This I think is the trap, post Bama game, at SC, they have Sellers, Stewart, some others back....Loss for now
Kentucky-Win
A&M-Loss, and could be ugly
LSU- depends who their QB is, but going to say Loss for now (if it was early in season I would say for sure Win)
Vandy-Win, though closer than I would want

8-4 is my expectation....Really depends on our QB, and if the guys on defense can figure out Knowles Defense in 2nd half of the season

I don’t care if we win any games as long as we get that entertainment thing I’m a jig at the stadium all good and set up by the time the season rolls around. We need the fan experience more than we need victories.

The flash of year two is gone. In before “we made the playoffs last year “. We back doored into that and got absolutely smoked.
Did you watch Ohio State play last year? That was a semipro team. They were good. What did you expect to happen with a hurt RB, and an erratic QB with accuracy issues?

What ever it takes to get to the playoffs.
I hate to break it to you, but TN isn't making the playoffs next year. So whatever you do when you're disappointed, do it now so that you can enjoy the games next year without stressing out. Hey, use next season to start a new hobby with the wife or kids.
