Academic report from GVX....

There's a difference in being ineligible and on probation - the guys that are on probation (a majority of them atleast) may have it under control and just had two bad semesters in a row.. guys like Miller probably have some serious work to do on their overall GPA.

Probation is under a 2.0 though. The football team average was I think 2.2. I know UTsports released all the info with the lady vols with the highest, mens bball with around 2.8, and football with 2.2.

Im not 100 percent, but if its the bad, more than 4 players would have been ineligible for the game because the players have to pass a certain amount of hours each fall.

No they didn't released the football GPA. In the story on this page it says the GPA is between a 2 and 2.4something.

I heard it on Jimmy's show today I know for sure - I heard from Josh I last week sometime - it was about a day or two before I posted the 2.06 GPA stat.

And for the record - one said 2.06 and one said 2.08.. both had like a 1.9something for the scholarship players.

oh alright. I know Tiny Richardson and Devrin Young have done really well in the classroom. So its definitely not those 2. I think Mo Couch is a possibility for being on the low gpa list.

Nice triple post there Card. This is sickening if it's true.

Its true. There is still summer classes and hopefully they got it up in spring classes. Either way, for all the resources the football players have, its truly unbelievable they can't even keep a c average. Im sure UT will find a way to get them on the field though.

I thought 2.0 was a C average?

It is but since its right at a 2. Im sure some players like Devrin Young and Tiny Richardson inflate since they have done very well in the classroom. It can easily be fixed though. Im not really worried, its just embarrassing. I won't be embarrassed if we win though.

This is really sad. I know for a fact these guys get it a little easier than regular students. This just shows a total lack of effort on their part. I'm embarrased for them.

Wow football players have it easier? In the fall semester, they take as many hours as most other students. Add that to all of the time they have to spend practicing, playing traveling, and studying film and I really don't see how they have the time to study for class.

Student athletes do have easier majors and they do get to register for classes well before everyone else, but most of the time, the professors for the courses aren't announced by the time they get to register and many are stuck with awful teachers. I think it's a joke that people expect these kids to do as well as regular students when they have twice the number of responsibilities.

Football teams always struggle in the fall semester and then pick it up in the spring and summer semesters.

Football travels what, on Friday? And since they fly, they probably can leave after kids are done with classes. Then they get back on Saturday/Sunday, in time to study.

They don't practice at night, when there's time to study. Practice/film isn't a legit excuse to miss class, and if they are missing class because of it, it is their fault as well as the coach's.

Heck, if anyone has a complaint about missing class it's, baseball and softball. Leave Thursday, get back Sunday nights Have Tuesday/Wednesday games. They miss class a whole lot more than football.

And no, they don't have to take the same amount of hours, they can take the minimum required by the NCAA, which most do.
