will run me about ______ dollars.
fill in the blank please.
Normally between $450( glock) -$950 (hk). A good weapon system is the one you can accurately shoot the best, everyone is different. A good psitol for most people is a glock 19 which is 9mm. If your worried about safety go xd or m&p, these are all striker fired pistols meaning no exposed hammer. The best safety is the one between your eyes and your finger.
Im sorta new so in the same situation, just go to a gun store and HANDLE, ,(not buy)5-8 diferent semi auto pistols.Usually, 2or 3 will fit like it was made for you (all ive shot felt great fine, you may be the same way) I would suggest a 9mm because its cheaper than .40 meaning more practice, and low recoil which means faster followup shots.
Then go to a range and shoot those handguns and the one that you can shoot the most accurate out of those is what you should buy. The sig p229, p250, glock 19 and S&W m&p 9were the best fit for me and are all highly recommended pistols. Factor in also what you can afford, again most people start with a glock 19 or even the glock 26 ( subcompact) which is a dang good gun. Its cheap, built like a tank and concealable if you choose to get your handgun permit, another thing to consider when selecting.
People may tell you a 9mm is a sissy gun but with the ammo that is manufactured today it will do its job if you do yours ie practice. Shot placement is key.
You can buy the best gun there is and not be able to shoot anything, DONT BUY a handgun and leave it in a safe and never use it. Shoot as much as possible. If this will be your HD gun id suggest night sights and a rail mounted light not going into rain v.s hand light too much debate, takes training for both. Mainly consider if you are shining your light at something, that weapon system is too, just something to think aboutt
Just do your research and learn from experienced shooters ( not me by far) ive just done tons of research. I hope this helps, any other questions just ask.
