A&E decides

All sin is terrible. Sexual sin is in a class of its own.

1 Corinthians 6

For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Honest question, does that prohibit tattoos? I wanted one growing up and my dear mother threw that in my face. Also I'm curious does this also imply you shouldn't work in hazardous jobs or other risky behavior because there is a risk of damaging the "Temple"?

That scripture is talking about spiritual union. I think your mother, unfortunately, was misapplying this scripture and promoting an unhealthy legalism. The same guy that wrote that scripture also wrote:

Colossians 2:20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21“Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22(referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

I have no desire for a dead, self-made, ascetic religion. I hungrily drink a life-changing, transforming relationship with my loving Creator.

:hi:

(PS: No offense to your mother.)

Forget A&E, doubt the Robertson's make that much from a rinky dink network like A&E anyway.

Bigger question is, has WalMart or Bass Pro pulled their merchandise or made any statement? Have the gay rights groups threatened them?

Gay people don't shop at Wal mart..they go to Target..or Pier One.

Oh... I see...

I'm trying to figure out how to say this without offending anyone, or sounding like I'm crapping on the CoC-- whom I know many that really love Jesus.

I think I can better understand your view of Christianity, and would love to sit over a beer with you discussing some time.

Cheers and best wishes.

Look at this racist ******* who thinks all black people are on welfare.

That's not very tolerant of you. Again you are taking comments out of context. No self respecting person black or white would say the welfare system has helped blacks in this country.

Sure it has. It has helped them stay poor, dependent, and ignorant.

You won't offend me. I've always heard they (we?) were much more stricter than others. I hope I didn't come out sounding to aggressive or anything, wasn't my intent. I respect a person's right to believe in anything they life, just isn't my cup of tea any more. :hi:

Thanks for the explanation. Not sure why it took so long for me to see that.

Not at all. I actually very much enjoy discussions with folks who do not believe as I do. I too hope I didn't sound too aggressive. I sometimes say things a bit tongue in cheek to make a point. Unfortunately that style can sometimes come across overly sarcastic in the written form, without connotations of the author's intent. Good day to you, and the offer for a beer is open any time you're through my area.

:)

Stay poor so they were already poor so how can you be so sure they would not be poor without it?
Are a higher % of blacks living in poverty now or before the civil rights movement?
Do you believe blacks were happier living under Jim Crow laws in the south or are they happier now?

I grew up COC as well. I know what you e been drilled with. After falling away from church for many years, I am now attending the Christian Church and am much happier. Not as almighty and judgmental

Happy or not there's always that "scapegoat". Times would have changed regardless but it wouldn't have paved the way for race baiters & these hate orginizations that scream equality but promote racism. Just like women's rights, civil rights, & now gay rights they all want equality but at their convenience & at the cost of everybody else's.

I thought he was responding to himself. Just noticed the difference. lol

Which isn't actually equality, by definition. :)
