A day of Decommits

The guys on 105 The Zone said something like 10 of the 14 guys CDT recruited for USM were Jucos. I know he can't sign 10 or 14 guys, so that tells me he may go after guys he recruited but never signed with USM.

Yep, it probably goes something like this.

CDT - Hey man, we really need you at USM, I think you would fit in great with our team!

Recruit - Coach, I like you a lot, but you are at USM.

Coach - Hey man, I landed the UT job, you won't believe this place, the facilities and support staff are amazing!

Recruit - Ok coach, I'm listening now.

:good!:

Let me think about that a second. I can either go to Southern Mississippi and play for a coach I don't know or play for the coach who signed me at Tennessee. Hmmm. That decision should take all of about 12 seconds(How long does it take for a phone to ring, mama to pick it up, and kid to say "I'm going to Knoxville mom"?

If CDT is willing to allow the UTs signees to go elsewhere if that is what they want, I have no issue at all with him bringing his guys in IF he thinks they can help UT win ball games next year.

With people like you posting, it is no wonder we had trouble finding a coach. Martin couldn't recruit according to most on here now all of a sudden we just lost 3 future NBA stars. You literally cannot make this stuff up.

Amen, brother. Where do these people come from???
........oops, who cares?

I knew better than to look in here...now I'm sorry I did...
I think anybody with half a brain knew this was coming or expected to lose
some players...it happens everywhere... or would you rather he do like Cal and start kicking scholarship players off to make room for high school players...

he was evidently truthful and upfront, they asked out,UT let them out to go somewhere else...its best for all parties IMO... no spots being used like paperweights,no disgruntled players,no division in the locker room,etc...

Thanks, triad; a voice of reason.

On business day 1 Tyndall has already proven he can't recruit at this level, i hope thunder thornton makes a move tomorrow and tells dave fart to bring bruce back or else gbo vfl

"....bring Bruce back?? What color is the sky in your world, dude? On second thought, never mind.

Ok... i was very neutral about the hire of Tyndall (I was a supporter of Martin throughout)

After losing Cofer(unconfirmed), Austin, and Cornish..... How does Tyndall respond?

This in my mind is his first real test. I want players near equivalent to these...maybe those demands are a bit high but hey this is UT.... Welcome to the Big Leagues!

Real players commit to a school , not a coach. Can't help but think these guys bailed because CDT is white. Don't wanna be here, then go be some where else. When a door closes another opens. Good luck to the decos'.

he's messing with people...read his other posts in this thread, its pretty funny actually...I fell for the 1st one too... it gets stranger and funnier...he picked the perfect time to pop this with all the other crazy posts...

None of the guys ccm had coming in were more than projects and almost definitely not huge immediate impacts. I suspect cdt may have wanted to bring in his own players any way and came to a mutual understanding with the recruits that have asked for a release. Maybe I'm wrong, but it would make sense.
Lol! Austin is very good

CDT just said the players wanted to explore other options, not ruling out UT,but wanted out of their LOI...the other 2 are still thinking it over...and he has 8-12 guys UT is in on to join the team...

I was thinking the same thing but it's not entirely because of race. Some kids want a coach that they "feel" like they can relate and look up to and respect.

I heard that was the problem with Dooley. He came from a rich background, went to Ivy school, etc... He didn't have to struggle at all. You'll get some recruits who did have to struggle and that's where the seperation begins.

But you'll have young coaches (Kiffin) that get their personalities. Or you'll have the ones that have that "swagger to them" Coach Jones and even Pearl.

Coach Tyndall? I'm not sure. He seems to laid back and tries to be funny a lot. I watched the Behind The Scenes video, and I was just waiting for a player to roll their eyes. He comes off a bit cheesy just talking to him.

I think we'll get players that won't emphasis so much on our coaches personality or character. They just want to play basketball.

I say good luck to those young men, you can't fit a square peg into a round hole. If they did not want to be VFL's then let them go. I am sure CDT had a plan B for this type of situation, has anyone ever stopped to think that some of his recruits to SM might do the same as these young men?
