Yes, it sucks to be in this position. There's not a single one of us that thinks bowling at 5-7 is an honor. But, with a new coach coming in, we could sure use the practice and orientation.

and yes, if we beat Vandy, there are bowls that will want our storied program.

Are we going bowling and should we go bowling?
Who's the best potential match up?

I though that UMass gave us a good game. Maybe a rematch?

UT is not going to a bowl, but even if they got an invite the new coach will not be involved in bowl practice unless UT promotes someone currently on staff.

Yes.

The first part is any 6-6 team would get a bid over us because they all have to be taken before any 5-7 team is considered. After that if any 5-7 teams are needed, it will go by APR.

And I honestly wouldn't want us going to one. Would prefer keeping our no 8 loss season streak in tact and you never know what unfavorable matchup could happen. Butch was fortunate in the bowls under him we matched up 3 different times with much slower and less talented big 10 teams.

I hope the team is focusing on beating Vandy to prevent having the worst season in history. 5-7 record isn't in the bank yet.

Should not go to a bowl game... but times have changed and if there is a buck to be made, they will give UT a bowl game. Especially considering that the Vol fans travel and spend with the best.

since i didnt describe the complete process of bowl selection, sure, it's not how it works. if you're saying bowls dont get to pick whatever team they want, then yeah, you're right and i didnt say otherwise. if you're saying bowls dont get to choose out of the 'eligible' teams available, then no you're wrong and it is how it works.

As has been posted several times in here, 5-7 teams are invited in order of their APR.

Disagree, waste of time for us to go bowling at 5-7. The whole “it’s great for the players to get those extra 15 practices” is a myth imo.

Now that there is an early signing period Dec 20-22, the game has changed...... I think it’s much more important for the new coach (and staff) to spend his/their time making sure that class is as good as it can possibly be by getting Mays, Taylor and Dixon (perhaps others) re-committed and to make sure he gets the players signed that fit his system, rather than playing another meaningless bowl game, especially one that we didn’t even earn. Jmo.
