5-2

Winning at Florida is the most important game left for the season. Heupel needs to prove he can win on the road. A loss will count this season as a fail.

Be prepared for the naysayers to tell you why we will lose 4 of the next 5.
Not saying it WILL happen, but it is in the realm of possibilities here....OU, UF and VU will all be losable games quite easily. UK could be a dogfight there (and we know CJH always has one "WHAT HAPPENED" road game each year....

Again, not saying it WILL happen, but easily could.

10-2 in the SEC gets us in the playoffs .
I don’t believe it will this year. Many forget all of the help we got last year. Everything we needed to happen late, happened. Highly unlikely we get that lucky again.

I don’t think we have to worry about it. Realistically I believe we drop 1 more along the way.

Why dwell on the negative? All of those are WINNABLE games.

Nah, come on .... We went 11-2 in 2022 and we were in the CFP last season. Heupel has beaten both Alabama and Florida twice.

Having said that .... he needs to shake up the staff.

I think our ability to develop home grown offensive linemen is a major problem. We are having to go out and spend (which reduces resources available for other positions). Lack of continuity explains the 5-6 presnap or formation penalties each game.

I like to think I am not being negative, but realistic based upon past performance.

will I watch? Yes.
Will I root for UT? Yes.
Will I expect/want to win? Yes

But I try to temper expectations based upon what I have seen so far.

So you think there are going to be more 10-2 teams this year than last year? There were 3 teams that ended up 10-2 that did not make the playoffs.

- Miami who lost late, and then Clemson with a 10-3 record took their place as they won the ACC.
- BYU (Arizona State took the bid)
- Memphis (not the top G5 team)
- Army who was 11-1, but not the top G5 team

There were 10 teams with 10-2 records. 7 made the playoffs. Had SMU beat Clemson, then Miami probably makes the playoffs.

Either that or you believe there will be more undefeated and 1 loss teams than last year. There was only 1 undefeated team by the end of the season. There was 4 teams with 1 loss. Army is the only one that did not make it but that is because they are G5 and Boise State took their spot.

I am being realistic as well - more than likely we will be favored in every one of the games we have remaining. That implies we are expected to win those games.

Last year we at least had the H2H bama quality win. We have 0 wins against any teams so far remotely close to top 25. I think our resume would be worse this year, not to mention ugly wins against ARK and MS. Optics matter. Ours don’t look good. I think we’d be out without tons of help at 10-2. We got the help last year.

But as I said I’m not worrying about it to much. OK, FL, or Vandy is a loss.

We were solidly in the playoffs last year at 10-2 , as I remember it. The debate was whether or not we got to host a playoff game .

You can't help but lie to minimize success

We didn't "need help" last year, we literally were in the projections for playoff rankings the whole time from their initial release to the end 😂

We were nowhere near solidly in last year. 30 seconds of searching this forum for those threads will show you that. We played what ifs for weeks. If I cared enough I’d look back for you. We needed losses from multiple people fairly late and we got them.

There were multiple scenarios. FL beat Ol miss late. There was worry of SMU. We were never solidly in. Once again another lie or fist out ignorance from yourself.

LMAO you are so clueless...we were always in, the debate was whether we would host or not.

Here is EVERY playoff ranking released in 2024 by the committee and Tennessee's ranking:

Nov 5 - Tennessee was 7th
Nov 12 - 7th
Nov 19 - 11th
Nov 26 - 8th
Dec 3 - 7th
Dec 8 - Final Ranking 7th

Tennessee at 10-2 needed no "help" the committee had us in solidly the entire time.

We needed no losses from anyone, the question was whether Tennessee would host a game at Neyland or go on the road in first round.

No. We were on the bubble. Any quick research will remind you. We needed the ol miss loss to Florida and we got it. We were also praying for Indiana to take a big beating at the end of season to push them out.

Winning out. Possible but unlikely.

OU is winnable.

Florida is probably not.

Either way, a 10-2 Tennessee team with a weak resume is not getting into the playoffs. Too many teams ahead of us.

False again. We needed Ol miss to lose late in Gainesville, abd they did. Try again.

Ole Miss even if they won would've replaced SMU not us...try harder...

At no point did we fall out of the playoff rankings by the committee...you simply can't admit you're wrong again boomer

You’re talking playoff rankings. Are you competent? Those rankings were after the losses taking place that we needed.

9-3. Florida game is a loss. Until we win in the Swamp, I don't count it as a win. Same with Tuscaloosa. It's very frustrating we can't win in those 2 places.
Absolutely! We always find a way to lose that game no matter how bad they are. They will look like a CFP team against us, especially at the swamp. Our luck, it will be a night game. Hell, they way KY played Texas and Heupel's history losing 1 on the road, this weekend could be a loss..We have no business losing to KY, but we all know CJH.
