Hope all of you have fun watching 300. Maybe Frank Miller will make enough money to inspire him to "artistically recreate" Braveheart, Gladiator, Last of the Mohicans, Hamburger Hill, etc. and we won't have to worry about great historical films ever again...

Way to bastardize one of the greatest battles in the history of warfare, Frank. My hat is off to you!

:good!:

I'm sorry you have your nose too deep in the history books to enjoy a good movie. If he wanted it to be historically accurate he could have made a terrible movie like Alexander. Yeah that movie wasn't historically accurate but it was a awesome movie. I love watching the history channel but I can enjoy a movie. Sounds like you need to lighten up. OMGzzz no, that didn't happen in history!!! No need to get all snooty because they made a movie that wasn't historically accurate and was never suppose to be. It is based on comic books.

I cant flippin wait. This thing looks Incredible. I have read mixed reviews from Critics but they are all liberaly ass*****. Plus I live in Sparta so that will be cool.

Better than Sin City, Milo??

As far as greatest movies ever goes, is it in that kind of category???
I can't say better or worse than Sin City, they're different... Sin City was literally a moving comic book while 300 is an actual movie. It's really too much of a popcorn flick to be called an all-timer, but it's definitley very, very good. I'd say one of the best popcorn movies of all-time.

EDIT: Had to...

If you are not going to make a historically accurate movie, then do not cover the historic Battle of Thermopylae...

Movies are for entertainment, not to teach you history, thats for documentary's. Even the directors will say its based on the comic books not history.

a good movie, to an extent, should do both. i'm not saying i dont go to historical movies that bend the truth a little bit but i hate seeing ones that completely stray away from what really happened. i frequently watch movies to learn more about what happened. not to say that all of them are 100% correct, but still. haven't seen 300 yet though. it's on my to-do-list.

Well, you are well on your way to being a stupid person. I cannot yet say whether you will ever be in an executive "postion" though.

So, because I abhor violence and bloodshed I am a liberal and I live in a cocoon?

I don't think you are liberal because you loathe violence, I just think you are a moron because you (based on your posts on this thread) consider movies a form of scholarly education, and it upsets you that 300 celebrates violence and openly fictionalizes the battle. You think this speaks to my intellegence and the future of America. Rrrrrrriiiiiiggggghhhhtttt.

It doesn't upset me that 300 celebrates violence as much as it almost completely neglects the facts of the Battle of Thermopylae. However, it does upset me that you are celebrating it's violence.

I am going to categorically state that anyone who makes a statement along the lines of "the blood splatter is next level," is definitely providing all readers with valuable insight to their intellect.

1)It's a movie, not real.

2)I agree. You should judge one's intellegence based on message board postings. I'm stupid because I enjoyed the blood in the movie, you're a genius because you educate yourself through Hollywood.

Anyways, anyone heard about a sequel. They obviously left it open.
