Well, I went and saw the movie last night on IMAX.

First I will go with the nitpicking gripes. *Yes I know the movie is based on a graphic novel.

1.) The Spartans not wearing any armor.........
2.) The Spartans swords being way off..........
3.) No Naval Battle.......
4.) All the naked women with small boobs.......
5.) Xerxes being 8 feet tall........
6.) Xerxes getting off on Leonidas......
7.) Spartans charging out of formation at the battle of Plataea

Ok, now on to the movie.......

As I have done in the past my expectation level was very high for this movie and in no way did it meet them.

It was surprisingly slow and the subplots were rather bland.

Overall it was not a bad movie, but it was not by any means a spectacular movie.

On a side, I have a dumb question. How does a mangaloir work? It looks like a pipe and you light the end and it blows up but I think it works different.
It's effectively a pipe full of dyn-o-mite (per Jimmy Walker) used for destroying channeling type obstacles such has concertina wire.

Field expedient: metal fence posts filled with C4 fired with blasting caps.

This movie is one of those that fall into the "cult" genre. If you're looking for historical accuracy, stick to the history channel. Watching the trailers should give you the indication of what type of movie this is.

Hollywood is what it is. They make movies to sell tickets. This movie is doing that very well. How is that a problem?

Hey, the Iranians are fuming mad about it. It is a "comprehensive psychological" tool against them according to their government. Make Iran mad...go see the movie.

There you go therealUT, those you detest for making the flick might get the Rushdie treatment. That'll show 'em.

They can make all the money they want off of it. I am not trying to keep anybody from being able to make and distribute this garbage. They are free to do so. However, I sincerely question the intelligence of those who are buying this garbage.

I felt the same way about people who paid to see Farenheit 9/11.

Why worry yourself with people watching movies that you care nothing about? It impacts you absolutely zero, whether 4 zillion people see the movie or 17 people see the movie.

I'd rather be hit in the n*ts with hammer every 10 minutes than watch any chick movie or most Oscar fare, but people who do enjoy them are no stupider than I am.

I liked it but that does not mean I bought it all blindly. He is a lil to one sided for me but I like the fact that he stands up for his beliefs
I am not quite sure that "Hating George W. Bush" is actually a belief. I would categorize it as an emotion. I see nothing noble about standing up for your emotions.

True, I agree with that. I hold Rumsfeld as accountable as Bush.

Truth is if you have never seen 300 then your opinion is void. I would like to see your opinion after.
If you want to pay for my ticket...

Which, by the way is how I saw Farenheit 911. A friend of mine, of very liberal persuasion, constantly told me that I could make no comment on this issue until I saw the movie. I told him I would in no way pay to see that movie, but he was free to buy me a ticket.

After the movie, my opinions about Mr. Moore were even harsher.

I respect that opinion because you made an effort and saw it. MM is pretty aggresive. I dont like totally one sided people Dem. or Rep.
