3 Straight Elite 8s

Just heard a wild stat from a caller on Basilio's postgame. In these 3 straight E8s, we have faced chalk in every single round. We have not benefitted one time from upsets in our bracket, always facing the highest seed possible. That is wild to see that in 3 straight NCAATs spanning 12 games.

It’s too late for me to try and do that math. But the math would be very low percentage chance for that to happen

The 3 teams Tennessee has beaten in the tournament have a combined 91 wins.

Michigan is gonna be so hard but do we think we are all around we are better than the Lanier and Dalton team? It kinda seems like it but maybe it’s because we don’t face the big guy from Purdue and the stout Houston defense from last year. Go vols.
Sometimes the best team doesn’t always win in a one and done scenario. Like was Virginia really better in 2019 than 2018? Or did they just have some fortune go their way? It’s hard to say.

All I know is, this team is peaking at the RIGHT TIME. And we haven’t even played our best 🏀 well now we have to. Michigan is a really good team. But they aren’t unbeatable.

40 minutes of focus, determination and execution will determine the game. It’s never perfect but we need EVERYONE to show up. Boswell has to contain Yaxel. If he does, we have a good shot. Gonna need to make 8-12 threes to win and try to limit turnovers 10-12ish.

I’m ready for Sunday ladies and gentlemen. I honestly thought we could lose to Miami OH. I was wrong and I’ll gladly admit it. Let’s play the game at our pace and anything can happen.

The number of teams that have 3 consecutive elite 8’s is probably less than 15 all time if I had to guess.
I know UCLA (4x), UK (3x) UNC (3x), Kansas (2x), Duke (2x), and Florida have done it. That's 15, so it's probably been done by a few others, too, that I'm not thinking of, but it is obviously extremely rare, and probably less than 20. And each of those schools have a title. Tennessee deserves a F4. I don't believe we beat Michigan on short rest, but nothing this bunch does will surprise me at this point. They have come to play in this tournament.

You named 6 total teams though! Without looking I’d assume Nolan Richardson did it and phi Slamma did it but who knows. Maybe only 10 ever .

I didn't expect this, it was a rebuilding year but this team has really turned it on in March. I would love to see them beat Michigan but man will that be a tough one.

Ahh...I didn't read your comment as programs that had done it. My bad. Yeah, in that case, I'd say 15 is probably very safe.

Houston never did it, nor did Arkansas.

San Francisco did in the 60s with I assume Bill Russell.

Cincinnati did it in the 60s with Oscar Robertson.

Michigan St did it 99-01. Mateen Cleaves years I believe.

Michigan did it in the 60s.

Ohio St did it in the 40s.

Can't think of any other obvious candidates who have done it.

Oscar played for Cincinnati and he was behind their 3 EEs in a row. It was Bill Russell for San Francisco.
