Maybe that preseason scrimmage against Duke was foreshadowing of what was to come in a championship game? Odds are against us but drinking the juice and starting to believe even against a powerhouse in Michigan.

Play up to our capabilities and we can beat them. While they are huge in the paint I would
play them straight up and not over help. Michigan isn’t beatable when they are hitting wide open 3’s and get plenty of them when defenses collapse off perimeter players. Eliminate that, keep turnovers low, attack their big guys in paint and don’t settle for 3’s, reduce their transition buckets and guard them aggressively this and it’s possible.

Bama doesn’t guard. St. Louis held their own against them for 30 minutes until they got overwhelmed by Michigan’s size.

The calls against us generally in the second half last night had all the appearances of fraud. I will leave it at that.

Mashburn on the commentary post game said Michigan would crush the Vols physically on both ends. When pressed as to whether it would be a blowout he said maybe a 4-5 point game , so a lot of contradiction from him. Bruce said he thought TN was facing a MI team that would overpower the Vols.

Sorta like all the computer predictions for last night. People on here pregame were quoting unanimous computer simulations showing Vols had no chance and were unanimous in picking ISU. Sometimes upsets happen in basketball that are inexplicable. Played in some of those type games where we won when we theoretically should not have. And lost some in stinkers.

On paper Mi should win. But maybe some Stoerner fumble type magic will appear. It can happen

Sometimes the best team doesn’t always win in a one and done scenario. Like was Virginia really better in 2019 than 2018? Or did they just have some fortune go their way? It’s hard to say.

All I know is, this team is peaking at the RIGHT TIME. And we haven’t even played our best 🏀 well now we have to. Michigan is a really good team. But they aren’t unbeatable.

40 minutes of focus, determination and execution will determine the game. It’s never perfect but we need EVERYONE to show up. Boswell has to contain Yaxel. If he does, we have a good shot. Gonna need to make 8-12 threes to win and try to limit turnovers 10-12ish.

I’m ready for Sunday ladies and gentlemen. I honestly thought we could lose to Miami OH. I was wrong and I’ll gladly admit it. Let’s play the game at our pace and anything can happen.
I think we have a shot. Michigan isn’t going to bully this team like they do others. And if our defense pressures Cadeau enough, we can disrupt their offense.

I remember Villanova against Georgetown many years ago in the finals. Georgetown should have won that game 9 times out of 10. But there was that one time……

I will say this: if we win tomorrow it will be more surprising to me than had we beaten Purdue two years ago or Houston last year. Both games I went into with excitement that we were a juggernaut who could go toe-to-toe with them. I think Michigan, Arizona, and Duke have been in a class by themselves all season. Then again, I didn’t feel confident going into last night, so what do I know?

What I do know is this team keeps proving everyone wrong and hopefully they can do it again, tomorrow. What an incredible story that would be. GBO!

I would say it was certainly a weak call. Easily could have been a no call. But the whistle was because he used his arm to sorta hook around the players shoulder area and impeded his advancement towards the basketball. But that type of play happens many times during a game without a whistle.
Yea, I noticed the arm. I just don't like the call because Ament has the proper position and is fundamentally boxing out. Probably see that as a no call on regular basis at the next level. I would have to watch again, but I thought his arm was around the waist.

We went toe to tow with Purdue. We had a lead late in the second half. Edey got some calls.

Kind agree , we have to get this hire right, not sure hiring the next coach within the system will work either . Go out find one , spend some money . Don’t be cheep. Not not be a popular opinion, but I would take will wade … to start with . Be. A candidate
I would no longer watch Vols basketball if they hired a scumbag like WW

I’m not sure we will have to face a team with as good a defense as Iowa State had last night. Really proud of what this team has accomplished. Barnes is the GOAT.
Michigan did not have the ball pressure that ISU did last night. They were letting Bama shoot themselves into oblivion.

They are very good in transition so Bama was doomed when the shots stopped falling and turned into layups by Michigan.

Their big man is not very co-ordinated and will be a liability for them Sunday against our crew.

They are big and deep, so are we. Everyone on our team who played contributed to the win. Other than Estrella missing some early point blank shots, I don't remember complaining. He made up for those later.

Barnes will try to drag them into the mud and get physical with Aircraft Carey, Opkara, Estrella and Brown.

Not to mention that Bama plays matador defense. As in none. Michigan will see some defense tomorrow.

Michigan matches up the same with Tennessee but they have a very high powered offense. we will need the defense and rebounding but two things will have to happen if Tennessee is going to beat them

1. stop the turnovers. Michigan is extremely capable of making you pay for turnovers and they score a whole lot of points for UT to be giving the ball away with sloppy play.

2. scoring cannot go into droughts. as was pointed out last night after the game, Tennessee is prone to missing a lot of shots and that has cost them in the form of losing huge leads this year. to make it to the final 4 we cannot miss layups or put backs, we have to shoot well from 3 and absolutely cannot shoot poorly from the line. I think to beat Michigan we need to score at least 85 points and have 4 players in double digits scoring with 2 of those players in the high double digits 20+ points each.

it will be a struggle but Tennessee is going to have to play perfectly to win this game.

I think the key is to not turn the ball over without getting a shot up. Those type turnovers cut off what should be called our offensive WEbounding ability. Put it on the glass and crash the boards.

I respectfully disagree. If both teams play perfectly, then Michigan has the edge due to more and better outside shooters. But if Michigan plays their average game then we don’t need to be perfect to win and it’s always possible for any team to have a clunker which would only require an average Vol game to win. When we play our game, I think we’re better than most give us credit for.

Yeah Purdue game still stings knowing Dalton went off for 40 and we had an 11 point lead in the first half. Just went on a 🥶 stretch and got a bad whistle against Edey.

We need all hands on deck tomorrow. Just keep the game at our pace and execute on both ends. Gotta make our free throws and take care of the 🏀

yeah but Michigan's "average game" this season is 87.5 ppg and 51% shooting. that's 8th in the country in points and 4th in %.

Tennessee by comparison is more than 8 points lower and 94th in the country.

Michigan would not just have to play an average game, they would have to play significantly below their average for an average Tennessee performance to beat them.

but an average Michigan team could get beat by an exceptional Tennessee team.

there's a reason that the Tennessee/Michigan game has the largest spread in Vegas of all the elite 8 games.
