Usually it is a staff member that has connections overseas. And then once you start building that relationship, get guys who are comfortable being around players with similar backgrounds, and those guys succeed, it is a selling point to future overseas guys. Chain reaction.

The Big 10 school you are thinking of is actually likely Illinois. Both Ivisic brothers, Stojacovic, Mirkovich, among others. Geoff Alexander is their assistant coach with all the connections in Europe.

I really considered Young as a comp, but TY is a couple inches taller, and that's assuming Tanner's listed height of 6'-0 is accurate. They play a similar game, for sure. I was just looking for more of a size comp since I think that may be the thing that hinders Tanner.

He's the #1 SEC offensive threat among all 4 and 5 position players per Evan Miya so there's that

JP is one of those players whose potential os worth the price tag. A high risk, high reward stock. If you get the fully healthy version of him with an assumed mild continuous improvement, he's easily worth seven figures. He's just never been able to stay healthy, so it really depends of your risk level in terms of investment. I think he is someone you pay to be your #3 or 4 scorer with the potential that he's your #1 or 2 if everything goes right.

Bing isn’t going anywhere if Byington stays. He played a lot down the stretch and showed good things. To your point tho, Harris is just not a good player. Wasn’t translatable at Washington either. They paid a lot for him. Most likely gets pushed out

When he's not hurt, he's in foul trouble. I love his game and would love to see him get close to his ceiling (which is high and he's not there yet), but paying that much for a guy who can't stay on the floor seems like a bad idea.

I’m wondering what the NIL market value would be for a player similar to JP but never got injured and never committed a stupid foul and held onto every rebound that touched his hands (are there any more criticisms I’ve missed) - $4+ million? I don’t recall another player we’ve had who could receive the ball in the post then consistently get and make his own shot since Grant yet there’s a vocal group in here that’s ready to cut him loose. If JP was the perfect version of himself, then he’d be headed to the draft as a lottery pick.

Who wants to cut him loose? There is a drastic difference between saying that a player who can't stay healthy and can't stay out of foul trouble isn't worth 7 figures...and saying, "cut him loose."

I really want Estrella on next year's team. But if he truly requires 7 figures, I'm not sure he's worth that kind of money from a roster construction standpoint, due to the fact that you can't pay 7 figures of your allotted "salary" for a player who isn't on the floor when you need him.

He's the #1 offensive player (4 or 5) in the SEC per Evan Miya. He just played 31 games in his 1st season and, yes, he has had some foul trouble but he's also been asked by the staff to be much more physical at the same time (some reports had the staff showing him Uros film as an enforcer)...he'll figure that part out imo.

Bottom line...he's def worth $1+ MM given today's NIL economics and somebody will pay him.

Not trying to be argumentative, but you and 3 others have made the statement that you wouldn’t pay him 7 figures. I take that to mean if his market value in this crazy NIL world is 7 figures then you wouldn’t pay him which would result in cutting him loose.

The big question is are these injuries and set backs chronic or temporary. The difference in JP when he’s healthy and gimpy is night and day.

Steve Hamer is a guy who had great skills, but the knees or a 60 year old. We’re the exact same age, and I’m still running, hiking, biking. Steve can barely walk. Genetics isn’t equitable.
