2026 Target List

Fred Smith? I’m assuming since he’s at Briarcrest that this kid is in some way related to the FedEx family. That family is a big supporter of the University of Memphis. Interesting situation.
On an unrelated note, I just saw that the kid from Goodpasture ended up at Briarcrest. Every private school in the state, and out of the state, was trying to get that kid to leave Goodpasture. I did not realize he ended up at Briarcrest. Makes sense with him playing for Team Thadd.

I remember 20 years ago when you would look at the top 150 players in the country and Memphis would have 5 or 6 kids on the list every year. I don't think there were any last year. But it is harder to know since so many go to Link Academy or IMG type programs and that is how they are listed. I also agree the shift to high level expensive AAU programs can give suburban type kids a leg up they used to not have.
The 2028 class in Memphis area is pretty loaded. There will be a few high-major players in that class.

Anyone with a 247 sub?

Ranked No. 24 overall in the class of 2026, Washington is a true high-flyer, and he showed that and more on opening night. A fluid mover at about 6-foot-7, his court coverage and ability in transition or attacking the hoop are separators for him. While his jumper wasn't falling on Sunday, it did look better mechanically than this time a year ago, and he does appear to be improving his ball handling.

"I felt like I played just ok tonight," said Washington. "My shot was off today, but I will get it right."

While he hasn't set dates for visits yet, Washington mentioned two schools that he definitely is planning to see officially during the fall.

"I know I want to visit Alabama and Tennessee," Washington told 247Sports. "They both fit me and what I do."

"Alabama says I fit their style of play. They talk about Brandon Miller, but also how they like how I'm me. Tennessee is kind of the same thing - they think I fit their style of play."
This was the only recruit in the article that mentioned us.
