2026 Midterm Thread

I don't think he will run, but think he should. We just need to get back to Common Sense politics.

IMO, the current administration is concerned about Kemp. To counter, going after the election ballots in 2020 to discredit him as a RINO governor who cannot govern.

Be prepared for more lies.

Kemp is McCain/Romney clone. He couldn’t win

So what? Problem with some on this board is that they just want to compare people to those of the past. A lot of change since these two were around. Deep thoughted post.
You planted a seed because you have nothing.
The blame game, lies, non supported labeling is getting old.
Congress functioned better under the Rinos, even under Trump in his first term.
2nd time around most of the so call Rino's are leaving due to Trump's power play.
The Republican's are slowly realizing the beast they created.
Problem is the Democrats sold their souls to liberalism.
As a result, Congress is totally dysfunctional, split and sits on a Powder Keg.

Congress hasn’t functioned since Gingrich and all the McCain/Romney faction of the R party gave us was an insurmountable federal debt.

Remember when the media criticized Reagan and Bush for suggesting a Constitutional Amendment making the Fed Government have a yearly balanced budget? Their two responses were:

1) "You never had a balanced budget in your term" with Dem Congresses controlling spending
2) "You can't cut welfare, aid, fraud, US Aid, etc. you want poor people, old people, women, blacks, gays, and foreigners to die!"

Sorry there are still some of those guys around and the only way that Congress functioned was because you had a split congress and a Congress that stayed mostly centered on both sides of the isle. What's more, Gingrich and Clinton (don't care for) were will to negotiate and meet in the middle.

Today, what we see is two extremes attempting to push their agendas' for votes. Results nothing gets accomplished except for a lot he said, she said.

Bottom line: It takes two parties to make things really happen for the good of the country in service to Americans both Rep and Dem.

The way I see it, Reps backing Trump's agenda because of fear of retaliation. Democrat's claiming lost of Rights that some should have never been granted in the first place or took advantage of because they could. The simple version but there are plenty more on both sides.

Interesting article on the mid terms. Three polls show Trump’s approval rating at 36 to 37%. If that holds, it’s the lowest for a mid term in 7 decades. (Harry Truman was at 33% in 1946.) That trend/history says we should expect big Republican losses in Congress this fall.

At a retreat of House Republicans, Trump said the consequences could be personal for him. "You got to win the midterms because if we don't win the midterms, it's just going to be − I mean, they'll find a reason to impeach me. I'll get impeached," he lamented.

We see what he actually cares about. Not advancing his agenda just that he’ll get impeached again. And the answer is yes he absolutely will get impeached. The only question is will he do something that actually warrants his removal and he gets convicted or will it just be more wasted political theater

Wasted political theater. 0% chance the Rs grow a spine even if its worth impeachment....

There are no logical reasons to be against using an ID to Vote to prove you are an US citizen. The way it is done in nearly every other country in the world.

There IS only one reason to be against it, and we all know why that is.
Then provide everyone a free, government issued ID with ample time before the election. Problem solved.

I thought every state offered a free ID at least to the poor but I was wrong. It's mainly the states that require an ID to vote have free ID programs.

While many U.S. states offer free photo IDs specifically for voting purposes, a "universal" free state-issued ID card—available to anyone regardless of intent—is rarely offered. In states like California, a standard non-driver ID card costs $29. Generally, free, or nearly free, IDs are usually restricted to voter ID, senior citizen, or homeless programs.
Based on general DMV, rather than strictly voting, policies, states where obtaining a, standard, non-driver ID card usually incurs a fee, or has no free option for the general public, include:
  • California: $29 fee for a standard ID card.
  • New York: Fees apply for non-driver IDs.
  • Other states: Most states, even those with strict voter ID laws (e.g., GA, IN, KS, MS, NC, OH, TN, WI), only provide the free ID if the applicant states it is for voting purposes. If it is for a different purpose, the standard fee applies.
It is important to note that most states with strict voter ID laws (like Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, etc.) do offer a free ID specifically for voting. The key distinction is that not every state offers a general-purpose photo ID for free to all citizens.

I wouldn't trust the Ds not to F that up...
I’ve pretty consistently called Trump’s whole cabinet except Rubio as incompetent morons. But that actually isn’t fair I keep forgetting about Wright and Burgum. And their depts don’t appear to be the fluster clucks that say DHS is. So they appear be threading the needle on keeping the stink of Trump off of them by silent running and just doing their jobs where as Rubio has had to do it publicly he’s State after all. But I could easily get behind Burgum too. I admittedly have no idea what Wright’s political aspirations are I think he’s just an oil exec lifer?

Voters ID on the right isn't about following the law. It's hopes and dreams that their fraud boogeyman exists. It's the last ditch effort to hold onto the past. They know social conservative policy is trending towards extinction. But instead of adjusting the GOP and a large part of their religious and racist nutter base double down on stupid.
Prove us wrong then. Get on board with voter ID and let's see if it changes anything. What do you have to lose?

Not following you here with blaming Gingrich. And seems a major contributor to the party has been left off the list.
