Which coaches aren't serious about their craft?
Some are different. You watch the coaches around the conference, some are just trying to survive, and some are serious about moving to the top. Which one do you you think CKC is? That kind of seriousness…

The stare.

Joni? Survival mode.
You can yell which ones like Joni are hanging on and hoping to survive. Are they all serious? Sure, some are nervous as well of course, and they should be. I’m afraid to say it, but CKH is in a very bad spot, as much as we would all like to see her do well, she has almost no chance to move up the ladder in any meaningful way at her current post. And she faces the possibility of being a cellar dweller in this conference for a long while due to her location.

If anything, that should give Kellie a leg up at Mizzou. Most of the pressure has dissipated. It’s git to bidness time.
Kellie is in a very bad spot Chuck, the next 1-2 years minimum will be brutal at Mizzou. She won’t do worse than her predecessor likely, but doing a bunch better is not likely. Her roster this next season is likely D2 level. if she turns that ship around I will be super impressed.

The point made was not where she is going, it was that the author of the text I replied to isn’t talking to her, her family or the LSU staff in spite of the ”I’m hearing from reliable sources” quote.
I think it’s pretty rich that a South Carolina fan comes to a Tennessee board to tell the people here what they do and don’t know about WBB players and coaches. You have no idea what connections any person here has.

I just do not understand the appeal of Jersy W? She's had 3 years to prove worth of a scholly and crickets!!!!! Hell, if you wanted a 6'5" girl to shoot threes, J Pissott could do that...
Pissott is a lump that comes with baggage. Ralph took her to stick it to Kellie from a perception standpoint and wishes she hadn’t.

EDIT: nvm she’s one of those entering the portal with no eligibility waiting on the decision. Weird concept.

Big hit for coach jack. Georgia is a dog. She’ll be a good get for some team. She was having to do too much for Syracuse. Would be more effective and efficient with a better supporting cast.

If I were Judd I would go to Texas their slow down half court style fits her more than what we do at Tennessee. I think she would get lost in our style especially with the speed and athleticism we have coming in next season. I'm fine with where we are now. We won't know if we will have enough three point shooting until games actually start and even her coming here doesn't change it that much. On paper looking at percentages looks like we have more three point shooting and efficiency than last season. Judd looks like a 10 to 12 minute player think Hurst could fill those minutes with the same or better results.
I might get another speed burner if I could get one if one were left. Fulwiley to Tennessee would probably scare the crap out of the rest of the SEC and their fans. Tennessee is looking good to break last years steal total and I can see the average being as many as 11 to 15 per game.
Coaches talking about now we know what is coming like Ralph and the Kentucky coach really don't if you got the athletes that can ramp it up several notches which we will have. The back of our rotation was Darby, Puckett, even Spear, were not suited for this system. No real depth from Ace and Adoyele. Hollingshead more suited for a Texas style offense. I'm glad they stayed and played just could not ramp the pressure up like Civil, The Pauldo twins, Robertson and Barker. Even Wynn has that speed to be great on defense in the system.

Hurst looks like our slowest player and she could run rings around almost everyone in the back of our rotation last season.

Teams won't be getting a break this season going to be fast from the start to finish. Nobody you can consistently beat off the dribble or throw a weak pass and get away with it. You could do that with the back of our rotation last season. This year not going to happen. Looking for ten points how about 10 less points by the opponents. I am confident that this group can be ten points better on defense than last years team. Still to be determined if any team improved their roster more than we did in the SEC. Depends on where a few still not decided players go. At this point and time I don't see anyone that has.

I suspect Ralph thought Kellie had misused Pissott and underestimated her abilities, and that she would take her at Vandy and then Pissott would become an example to recruits for how much better Shea was at recognizing and developing talent.

But occasionally a kid will peak in high school, get to college and discover there's more to life than sports and being hyper-dedicated to being super good at them. Not everyone wants to put in the work necessary to be a great player, and that's perfectly fine. Every coaching staff takes a chance with every recruit that they're not unknowingly signing a high school superstar who is gonna be satisfied with having been a superstar in high school.

Great post, I agree on all fronts.

I would be perfectly happy with the roster as of this moment. If Fulwiley wants to come, obviously you take her. Otherwise the only player I could see us taking is Moore who is reasonably quick and a knock down shooter.

I think the 24-25 team actually overachieved. We started unranked and finished in the Sweet 16 with a cabbaged together roster and several players who were not suited to the style, as you mentioned.

I do think teams have another thing coming next season. If Kim gets them all bought in we are going to be a nightmare to play against.

Last season most of the teams who beat us played small ball and we couldn’t keep players like Gilbert, Blakes etc in front with our secondary lineup. That’s not going to be the case anymore. Almost every player on this roster will be capable of guarding 1-5.

With improved versatility with the incoming players plus our returners I think we both score 10 more a game and hold opponents to 5 fewer. That would be a 96-65 swing most games which is hard to overcome.

One thing I hope to see next season is our guards picking off those long passes over the press. That’s the pass the press is designed to make players throw but we didn’t take advantage of it enough. The back of our press was not quick enough to get those. Shouldn’t be the case this season.

If we go get that pass WE get a layup not the other team.

Pissott was a super player in her catholic league which was really weak with mostly 5'5" girls. She was on an AAU team with four other AA type players that inhanced her game. She could get all the open looks she wanted because players like Hildago and others made teams need to leave someone open. When she got to college she thought she could still hang out on the perimeter and shoot threes. She couldn't guard anyone, refused to rebound. I don't think anyone was to concerned on the coaching staff that she left.

She got to Vandy and for two seasons what has she done hang out on the three point line looking to shoot. After one season of it and only like 33 percent made she found herself on the end of the bench last season. This year she may have a role at the back of the rotation. She is never going to be much of a rebounder or passer or defender so those will be her liabilities whenever she plays.

Not being able to pick off the pass out of the trap was a liability. If we can get players with the speed to do that which we have then the press become lethal.

Feels like Kentucky may have struck out in the portal for impact players.

The roster they are returning looks sloooww and shallow. No depth beyond their starters. Morgan is a nice player, Asia Boone won’t be an impact player in the SEC. Morgan is a very good PG/passer but has no three ball. With the style they play they have to have a deep threat and they lost both Amoore (33%) and Lawrence (39%) and replaced them with Morgan (24%) and Boone (33% mid majors).

They really needed to find a backup center for their style of play and all the good ones are off the board at this point.

I truly despise Kenny Brooks and hope he fails. Kim & co better pound them next season. That Kentucky game was abysmal. We just didn’t come to play.

They also got Josie Gilvin from Western Kentucky (another mid-major player) who shot 42.4% from 3 last year on high volume, 3.9 attempts/game.

Oh nice, I missed that pick-up for them.

That’s an eye popping percentage for certain. So far I’ve not seen mid-majors transferring up make much impact in the SEC. Shooters in particular seem to have trouble adjusting to the quicker players and defense in the SEC.

Alexus Dye was one of the best who did that. Higginbottom was successful as well but she was originally an SEC player at MIZZOU who transferred down and then back up.

Looks like LSU got another player would think it would be Williams but never know could be anyone in the portal.

94 feet doesn’t know jack. They’re posting that based on stuff shared in the burner ball discord. Everyone saying Lay is pretty much a done deal to LSU but there is still no actual confirmation of that.

Love these assessments and agree. The one glaring thing that stuck out to me as crucial in all of our losses was the failed dribble drive in the paint, especially with Ruby, resulting in turnovers. I think there were three in a row in our sweet sixteen game down the stretch that was the nail in the coffin. And then forcing a pass out of the lane when stopped and sloppy, cross court passing. Clean those things up and that will also result in some different results.
