2025 Transfer Portal

No, we aren't happy losing a generational talent. I was surprised to learn that while averaging 18 minutes she took by far the most shots on the team. Like 80 more than the next player. If she goes I hope it's to Clemson where she would have free reign in a building program.
Ok then that is the way I would feel. You brought a post from a place that said she wasn't doing what Dawn wanted so I took it that some were ok with her leaving. Actually if I were for SC I would want Raven to hit the road and keep Latson and Fulwiley. That is just my opinion know most over there want Raven over almost anybody else.

Were we supposed to get a surprise?
I will say that this player is the best of the 5 footers that have been presented at least from a statistical point of view. She took an amazing 270 free throws last season and made over 80 percent of them. How do you get to the free throw line almost ten times a game? Doing so and making so many gave her a 1.339 scorng efficiency which is higher than Latson and any guard we had on our roster last season. She is a career 34 percent three point shooter. The mystery is how this 5 foot girl got to the line over 700 times in three seasons? That is an amazing stat. She has made 81 percent of them.

If were taking a five footer she is my choice.

Were signng players for sure just wonder if it is going to be players that will help us with the weaknesses we had in year one. A lot of the top bigs are already off the board. Just hope we have someone in mind for those inside positions.

Don’t think anyone doubts we’ll get some players. But options are dwindling every day.
2 things...
1-when we went deep into our bench did we lose height or speed?
so do we need height or speed?

2- 6-0, 5-10, 5-9, 6-2, 5-11
This is the height of the lineup that just won the national championship!

Some posters at this point are just putting comments in this thread to discredit the staff. When they add one or two player 6’3, 6’4, or 6’5 on average this year’s team when 5 are on the court together will be taller than last year’s team.
The freshmen class is 6’3, 6’2, 6’0, 5’6, 5’6
seniors graduating 5’6, 5’10, 5’7, 6’0, 6’2, 6’1, and 6’5.
The returning players are 6’4, 5’11, 6’0, 6’2, 6’0, 5’9.
Tell me what am I missing?
How is the team going tiny when nobody has seen one portal addition walk through the door on April 13?
Not having the information or seeing a staff add players that don’t fit their system doesn’t mean they aren’t filling the needs of the team.
And before someone comes on to gaslight the facts LSU, UCLA, USC, Michigan, Florida, South Carolina, Connecticut, Louisville, Ohio State, and Notre Dame just to name some all played freshmen last season consistently.
If you think Coach Caldwell isn’t going to have multiple freshmen prepared and ready to play from Day 1 then you are unserious.
She isn’t incompetent as a fan who thinks the classification of a player determines their ability to play a sport on the next level. Freshman play against upperclassman on every level of college sports. Alabama football team had a 17 year old freshman who skipped his senior year start all season in the SEC. Rookies play against veterans in professional sports. It does take a simple minded person to believe that now the freshmen coming into Tennessee have faced and had success against players during their HS careers that went on to transition into college suddenly are incapable of playing at Tennessee because they are the only freshmen class in D1 basketball that needs training wheels for a full season.
It’s an unserious analysis that’s only being reinforced by the same posters on this forum.

Believe need for speed was addressed in recruiting, height not so much.

Listen I get it. Unless we’re secretly in on Smith, Olkot or similar, we are all in on small ball. Whether that’s by choice or bc we didn’t get looks fm bigs and shooters, it’s how we appear to be rolling. Sure will be interesting to see if that helps us crack the top of the SEC, esp as tho top teams have loaded the eff up w size and scoring.

Regarding UConn, you forgot 6’5” El Alfey and 6’3” Ice Brady. Even when they go smallish, they play a super efficient, flowing offense with superstar offensive players that compensates for lack of size. They don’t have to mad scramble to create extra possessions to make up for inefficiency.

And yes I know we beat them. Maybe that win justifies going all in on what we’re already doing instead of tweaking it. We’ll see.

How much are they paying you? We all know you’re on staff to combat any negative PR the team receives but you post too much. Do you get paid by the word or paragraph?

Regarding height of incoming freshman, Civil listed as 6’0”” and Prawl 6’1. Hurst, who’s unlikely to play, is listed as 6’2. We know about the twins. Wonder why that poster fudged everyone by an inch?

Fact remains we will have only four players taller than 6 ft and only 2 taller than 6’2”, one of them Hurst. The smallest LV team in my memory

But I already said apparently size doesn’t matter. Let’s roll.

I see your statices… and as soon as we get the number 1 recruits for THREE years … maybe their height won’t matter ? 🤷‍♂️

K L U The Zoroastrian,
Thank you ever so much for consistently, persistently, obnoxiously posting random excerpts from Dr. Seuss's The Butter Battle Book and the Bulwyr-Lytton Fiction Contest.
Those misguided fans—refugees from the merger of Baylor and Middle Tennessee State?—who pretend that it was not really a dark and stormy night when our more than adequately sized squad was undone at TBA by those rascally little eggheaded nerds from Vanderbilt, they clearly don't appreciate the awesomeness of our incoming freshmen. Lambo! Stand on Bidness.

It’s just a ploy by the same group of posters to throw out petty insults but frame it as caution.

The core of the team prior to any portal additions based on the total of 11 returnees and freshmen already possess more size and height than last year’s team.

They are looking at three players height which is not a liability in WBB either way but let’s look beyond Boyd 5’9 and Mia/Mya Pauldo 5’6.

Hurst at 6’3 and Prawl at 6’2 can fill a void with size, speed, defense, rebounding, and shooting that Puckett 6’2 and Darby 6’1 could provide the shooting but lack the speed and quickness to provide the defense and rebounding.

If you go back and look at the prospect visit videos on the Lady Vols social media pages last season you could tell Hurst and Prawl then were taller than all our team players except Spearman and Hollingshead. During the Chipotle National Championship a game announcer even joked that he asked Prawl has she gotten any taller since they last saw each only months prior to this spring. Neither Prawl or Hurst are lean either.

Same with Jaida Civil she will give Tennessee another 6’0 guard alongside Cooper that can play PG, SG, or Wing. She replaces Spencer 5’7 and Spear 5’10.

Along with Latham, Spearman, and Whitehorn that’s 7 players approximately 6’0 that can play multiple positions from 6’0 to 6’4 and you can play either of the them together as 5 on the court. This is before the portal. All possessing the speed to play full court press.

It’s unserious for posters to constantly try to present a case about lack of height without the roster set when even now there’s size on the roster.

Okay, let me stop you right there. I doubt anyone reads a post this long. I didn't and never will. Your posts are always the same and I think people have caught on.

If you have something original to say, do so as briefly as possible and people may actually take the time to read it.

Okay.

Someone liked the one previously posted immediately after it was sent so you can’t speak for anyone. I don’t care if you read it. I don’t need validation from you on a message forum. I have enough of that in my daily life. This is a hobby. And I’m posting at my leisure.

An excessive and seemingly uncontrollable amount of words that shoots out from a person. Can be written or verbal. The characteristics of the outpouring tends to be words not contributing to the general understanding of the topic at hand

Height numbers have been known to be skewed to help a player get noticed. 5’10 is the new 6’1 from MaxPreps to University guides.

Quite frankly, I've diagnosed him with Logorrea. Slight difference from Verborrea.

Logorrhea is a communication disorder that involves excessive, often incoherent, and uncontrollable talking or wordiness. It can be a symptom of aphasia or brain injury, and is sometimes classified as a mental illness.
