2025 Transfer Portal

Exactly what I have been trying to get across about the portal and the incoming freshmen. They didn't sign those players to sit on the bench. They will be a huge presence in the rotation. I think they are trying to replace exactly what they lost maybe with players they think are better. It is obvious our biggest need is a power post that is versatile in her play. Williams or Okot would be ideal, but they are wanted by probably more than fifty teams so a lot of competition. Mia Pauldo is going to be a major player at point guard and her sister will have a huge role in the rotation. Civil and Prawl will play a lot as well. Hurst is the only one I have no handle on really don't know what her role will be first season here. I suspect she will play just how much depends on portal and her volleyball aspirations.
In recruiting, there are two strategies. One is to constantly look to upgrade which means existing players can get buried in the rotation (unless they transfer); the other is to respect prior commitments to your existing players and look to fill in gaps.

For a new coach, like CKC you would expect a little more of 1 since they have an inherited a roster not of her making. But, it really seems that she leaned into 1. While she recruited over Stricklen with Latham and Spearman, for the most part she found a way to work all the inherited players into the rotation, and filled the gap at PG with Spencer (and there were big ? around Wells coming back from an ACL). In the end, Puckett lost out a bit but she still had a role.

Long term, I think this is a better strategy in terms of recruiting and keeping players. As the team stands, we seem good on guards, need one more shooter to replace Tess and a post (Maybe two) presence so that Zee and Latham can be at the 4, their more natural position.

If what DeerPark said is true, it doesn’t sound like we’re going after any type of all American type candidates in the portal so I would mark some of the players at the top of the transfer lists off of our wish list. We’re probably going after the types of players who want to blend in and win. Although I do wonder how SC can get someone like Latson and probably one of the top posts and still maintain the long term growth of their program. I guess winning championships helps with that. So who are some of the lower rated players that had good seasons but don’t want lots of minutes or be the alphas on a team?
I didn’t say we weren’t trying to recruit a player like that. I said a player that is going to a team to be the unquestioned star is not going to be a fit here. Latson very clearly is a great player, but she will have to fit in to the rotation at South Carolina the same way she would’ve had to fit in the rotation here.

Hear, hear. The most obvious need is replacing Jill. The next is less obvious but either an extremely accurate 3 point specialist or a post back up.

Sounds like that squad from Connecticut, with grad transfer Chen the sole portal acquisition.
Technically, Chen was not a transfer. Players at Ivy League schools are not permitted to be on athletic teams once they graduate, even if they have NCAA eligibility remaining. Chen graduated and would not have been able to play for Princeton even if she and the team had wanted it. I believe she did put her name into the portal, though, even though she was probably not required to.

Some recuits are probably watching see how Spear does in WNBA.
Some say it's weak draft class.
That's coming from YouTube videos weak draft.

As for replacement for Tess
She been wait to shot player
And wait for a better shots.
Her turnovers where at the top of the team low turnovers
Tess or players like her need good ball sharing and passing to produce.
Tennessee might go after players who can create their own shots.
Kim and Kellie talked about how team played while Tess was in the games.
Tess passing gets over by some fans.

I don’t know if it means anything at all, but I was just informed OGOT is now following all of the SC players on social media. Don’t ask me for details, I don’t do any social media, not X, not FB, not Instagram etc etc. But a SC fan (friend) who does just texted me that she is now following all the ladies on the SC team.

I said hours ago that she was going to South Carolina and nobody here believed me… just told me i was being negative 🤷🏽‍♀️

If you watched Mississippi State, Florida, or Wisconsin play and saw what everyone else did then nothing you read on social media is real any way.
to each its own.

Weird stalk ish vibes.. keep in mind a poster I never engage in dialogue with who talks as if the forum revolves around their keyboard.

GBO! Vol fans I dropped the scoop above👆.

These sources are really not sources. Ole Miss is signing players they need but not moving the needle.

I don’t think Tennessee is in strong pursuit of McMiller or McMahon but that doesn’t prevent contact from either side.

Visits are lined up, the best announcements is when the players and current players post the pics and videos.

GBO!

Since McMiller has been ruled out. Is McMahon ruled out too?

Lady, I am out of my area of expertise here, I don’t know if that is a common event or not, so I have no idea what it means, I just thought it was interesting at the least. I was/am hoping for Chloe’s sister tbh.
Normally that means she’s headed you all’s way! I’m sure Dawn will be signaling a little birdie has hit the nest or whatever the h*ll she says! 😩🥲😂

Everything you wrote is accurate, at least from the standpoint of the NCAA rules for athletes,
laughably known by that burrocratic organization as “student-athletes”. But it is a distinction without a difference, perhaps. Ms. Chen, from a purely academic viewpoint, transferred from Princeton U. to the U. of CT. Had she not done that, she would not have become eligible to play varsity basketball there, with or without a sports scholarship.
