2025 Transfer Portal

If the defensive side of the ball improves this year, and I believe it will, it is going to be very hard for anyone to beat Tennessee. I would love to add that experienced consistent 36-38% three point shooter/sniper to this roster to open up the paint and driving lanes for the exceptional athletes on this team, but I have to believe that each player we have will improve in that area and fill that gap if we don't.

These players don't become All Americans (and we currently have 7 of them which makes me crazy happy) because of their defense. It is usually because of their ability to take over games on the offensive end, their consistent offensive production, and their athletic potential to improve their overall game as they mature. There is a lot to be excited about with this team....
I think we already have the three point shooters. Guess we'll find out when season gets here. I think we might still an offer out to one player.

And? 👆As a talent, Janiah Barker is the best talent to enter the portal the last two seasons.
They were projecting Janiah Barker as a 1st round pick last season had she entered the WNBA draft.

@Deebowbear
To expand on the post earlier, when you add the talent Tennessee has from the portal and HS recruiting class with a strong core based on the reactions from the staff you can sense they have put together a team capable of winning a championship.
A roster featuring 7 McDonald’s All Americans, 9 Top 30 players, and 13 Top 70 players.
That seals the deal
Certainly headed the right direction. But “top 70” doesn’t do much to make the point.

Yes I know that just figured they would get the fifteenth scholarship filled. They could have a rotation of 3 groups that way. But really like to see a theee pointer like Judd or the Texas Girl. Thanks for information I know we have a great team in the making.

My understanding is that Judd may take as long as a couple more weeks to decide. I guess she could decide tomorrow all the way up until the middle of May. The other player have not heard anything about which teams she is looking at or if were even interested in her. She wouldn't be visiting at least until next week for sure as the coaches are at that Eybl event for the next three days. On Judd it is Tennessee of Texas from what everybody says so we'll have to hang in there until she makes a choice.

Tell me how having 13 players including 7 McDonald’s All-Americans, 9 in the Top 30, on a WBB roster ranked from Top 5 - Top 70 does nothing to make the point?
How many teams you know of with 7 five - stars and 6 four-stars? Likely no more than 3 or 4 other teams in WBB.

Certainly headed the right direction. But “top 70” doesn’t do much to make the point.

Coach Kim will let Janiah Barker get back to the way she was playing at A&M with a 100 percent better supporting team. She was in a box as UCLA.

Thanks for posting! Really like her balance and foundation when she shoots.

How does she handle it when defenses drive her off her spot?

Really not understanding the top 70 as Barker was 3, Mia Pauldo is 9, Wolfenbarger was 7, Civil is 14, Prawl is 17, Hurst 45. Mya Pauldo 56, Cooper 18, Boyd 42, Whitehorn 15, Spearman 30, Robertson can't find a ranking. Latham 72, and Wynn think was around 60. So only a couple players out of the top 50 and only four players out of the top 30. Seven player in the top 20 and three players in the top 10.
I would also argue that Mya Pauldo's ranking is wroing for whatever reason. I think she should at least be a top 25 player.

Some of you can take anything positive and make it sound complicated due to the negative mindset carried on this forum by some.
The roster is elite. The rankings show it no matter how you try to switch a word around to make what you say different than anyone else.
What is it not to understand?
It’s plainly stated in writing.

I understand it why are some posters saying top 70 roster is what I don't get it is easy to see the rankings just listed them.

I’m trying to get a clear understanding of what your perspective is.
What posters are you referring to? There are 13 players ranked from #3 to #72. That is 13 players in the Top 70.
So including that while stating there’s 7 McDonald’s All-Americans, 9 players in the Top 30 it certainly drives home the point.
It breakdowns the numbers and shows the depth of the entire roster on another scale.
Some ranked teams may have 3 or 4 players on their roster that were in the Top 100.
Having 13 Top 70 players on a roster is remarkable.

I’m trying to understand Fulwiley to LSU. I just can’t believe Kim learned nothing fm the HVL situation. Like others, I can’t see MF as a Kim type PG. I’ll bet Gilbert would have left if MF was intended as a pg. So what does that mean for MW and FJ? Maybe Kim experiments w positionless, play them together and let all bring the ball down at times?

I also can’t believe the strong willed Mom would go into this without complete guarantees about playing time and role. I hope to God S. Williams goes to UConn. If LSU gets her too IMO they’re the slight faves over So Car. Sure is going to be interesting.

MF process seemed janky and screams indecision. Sounds so much like Nico. She’ll be a junior, needs to get this right.

Being the favorite won’t mean nothing when the SEC has 5 teams in the Top 10.
People automatically assuming that Williams production will carry over to the SEC if she lands there will likely be in for a shock.
I think she’ll do better as a player at UConn or UNC.
Tennessee getting both Wolfenbarger and Barker with the recruiting class while returning the core puts them right there with Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, and South Carolina.
That’s all that matters.
Wolfenbarger and Barker in the post gives Coach Caldwell and Coach Roman (post coach) the same elite athleticism and versatility that Strack and Key gave Coach Brooks at Kentucky. More importantly, they have Alyssa Latham and Lazaria Spearman in this system with a year of experience.
Some on here praised that duo at Kentucky for a whole year through the Round of 32. Key hadn’t played much before going to Kentucky and Strack numbers were just decent at Virginia Tech.
Look at what that system did for those players in KY.
You can argue that even before coming to Tennessee, Barker and Wolfenbarger have had some success. Now imagine how much potential they have in CKC system.
Tennessee could easily end up winning the portal with two former HS Top 10 prospects plus an explosive scorer like Nya Robertson.

yeah i have been really amazed at how much parsing goes on here to find a negative inference of some kind. this is also coming after more than a decade of hard times for the lady vols in ALL areas. i firmly believe some posters could never be happy aside from us winning a national championship. even winning the SEC would somehow be questionable. i just don't choose to live my life through that lens. carry on though. ha.

YES. REMARKABLE.

Malaysia could return to SC for her senior season if Dawn would take her back. Their guys have a player that started at Ohio State, transferred to SC, transferred back to Ohio State and is now back in Columbia to finish up. Meechie??
