La Tech’s Amaree Abram signs with Tennessee.
6'4, solid/above average on defense but no matter who we signed they're going to not be Mashack.Ok, going to admit up front I don't know a lot about this kid. I have only just now watched some of his highlights.
So from what I gather he is a lefty, and his shot appears to be decently quick. Looks pure, too. He also does seem to be able to finish at the rim.
Looks a little short though, anyone know his height?
Last question ftm, how is his defense?
Found some answers to my own questions, but would still love anyone else's feedback.Ok, going to admit up front I don't know a lot about this kid. I have only just now watched some of his highlights.

Seems like it will depend on the health of the experienced bigs. Not many minutes available if JP, Felix, Cade, and Carey are all healthy this season. Is it weird that I think Dewayne Brown can contribute next year? It’s so crowded but he looks physically ready for the SEC and I like his game a lot
I for one would welcome Massamba filling the Cam Carr role for this next season considering we were missing that kind of "microwave" offense player in 24-25.Hope you’re enjoying Amaree Abram day. The staff is excited to add Abram as he is a seasoned veteran who has 3 previous stops. Abram entered the portal after Kermit Davis left Ole Miss. At GT, there were some coaching issues that caused a lot of dysfunction between staff and players, and it hurt the stock of Abram along with battling injury. This past season, Abram played well at LaTech, and the staff plans to have Abram play solid minutes at the 2 and shift to the 1 when Gillespie needs a breather. Abram is a tough defender who should provide the Vols with a little less of Mashack and a lot more offensive value.
Remember…the staff aren’t expecting Abram to be their Chaz replacement. Ament and Gillespie will be the scorers, so Abram just needs to provide 25 or so minutes with solid defense and hit some shots when given a gift of spacing from Ament and JG.
As far as Massamba, expect news within the week. International details are being hammered out, but this one is essentially done. Massamba is poised to receive a rating once he commits to Vols. While some watch his highlights and instantly see 5 star status, this will not be the case. Some experts see CM to be a high 3 star with a low 4 star possibility. The staff is in love with the upside. It’s been mentioned that he can come in and instantly give you a Cam Carr like role as a high flying athletic freak with maybe 10 minutes off the bench with the definite possibility for more depending on how he looks.
Agree. I still don't understand why some posters question why Barnes recruits his players. His recruits are recording the best records in the history of Tennessee basketball. I am perfectly satisfied with what he has been able to accomplish in his stay at Tennessee. He’s not going to be asked to really play PG here, and Barnes has a good track record of getting guys to take care of the ball so that aspect doesn’t bother me too much. You’d like to see the FTA higher, but it’s off considering he attempted 5.2 shots from 2 a game which would rank 2nd on our team this past year, so he does get into the lane, just not fouled a ton when doing it.

Have you ever seen anyone, who commits to UT, have a bump up in ratingsHope you’re enjoying Amaree Abram day. The staff is excited to add Abram as he is a seasoned veteran who has 3 previous stops. Abram seems like a solid pickup. But the assist to TO ratio is a concern to me, as is the fact he shot only 1.4 FTs a game playing over 30 minutes a game. We were at times exasperated at Chaz for not driving to the rim and he shot nearly twice that many FTs a game (on a minute less of playing of time pg)
Actually Ament was just moved up to #2 nationally from #4 nationally by On3Have you ever seen anyone, who commits to UT, have a bump up in ratings![]()

We'll be lucky if they rate him at all
Actually Ament was just moved up to #2 nationally from #4 nationally by On3That was announced post his commitment but not sure if their internal rankings were complete prior to the commitment or not.
