As we are seeing with Nico. Sometimes there's not really more to the story. This kids get horrible advice and take it.Ehh. Pretty sure there is more to that story that is unlikely to see the light of day.
Heard many people who know say there is more to it, but not like Nico’s situation. As we are seeing with Nico. Sometimes there's not really more to the story. This kids get horrible advice and take it.
Dubar was barely playable a lot of games, you think Barnes was happy he didn't have Carrr available? I promise he would have like more options and scoring punch. I think Carr is a selfish player who thought he deserved more playing time, probably Baylor by way of agent told him such and offered a lot of money.
Your comment makes it look like Abram shot nearly 4x as many free throws as Zakai, when it’s the opposite of that, hence my worry about Abram. I guess I’m not confident on anybody that were thinking will be on the team as a third option, but if one surprises me then that’s greatI think Gillespie will be a 35-36mpg guy, those 4/5 could be Abram, or it could be Henderson, Boswell, Ament, Gainey if he’s back, Massamba, or another add as well. Whoever it is my guess is they’ll be solid with the ball if Barnes is giving it to them for the 4-5mpg.
Per Barttorvik he was at about 1.4 pull up attempts from game, 3.3 rim attempts per game, for comparison Lanier was 4.8 pull up attempts a game and 1.9 rim attempts per game. Abram was actually very comparable to ZZ in number of rim attempts and pull up 2 attempts per game, actually almost identically at 1.3 and 3.3 respectively, but shot almost 4x as many free throws interestingly enough.
I would say 4th option, behind Gillespie, Ament & Carey imo, which I think is solid…last year the 4th option in our starting 5 was Mashack, I think Abram would be an improvement there imo.
JG, while better than Abram, is also not great at drawing FTs. Carey surprisingly isn’t that great at it for a big man. Got a feeling we’re just not gonna be a team going to the line muchYour comment makes it look like Abram shot nearly 4x as many free throws as Zakai, when it’s the opposite of that, hence my worry about Abram. None of that mattered in the tournament though. I don't recall it ever being an issue during his tenure in the tourney. Of course, I can barely remember what I had for dinner tonightWhile I can’t predict likelihood, Staff goal is 13 or 14 players. With the various injuries, flu etc, Barnes feels like we lost a few games we would’ve won, and sometimes didn’t have adequate amount of players to play 5 on 5 competitively in practice. I don’t know how one keeps 14 players happy in this day and age, but all of Rakease, CM and AA are takes.
Edited to be more clear…Your comment makes it look like Abram shot nearly 4x as many free throws as Zakai, when it’s the opposite of that, hence my worry about Abram. Absolutely mattered. We possible wouldn’t have played Houston until the championship game if you flip 3-4 results from L to W last season.None of that mattered in the tournament though. Kyle Alexander was out against Loyola Chicago, and we lost Fulkerson in the NCAAT after the elbow to his face in the conference tournament. I do recall sickness during the regular season but don’t recall the outcomes. One or two wins in the regular season could have gotten us a one seed.None of that mattered in the tournament though. Jp Estrella & Jaylen Carey are big boys. And we have not had a guy at 6'9" start at SF. Just saying, we won't have the same issues as we seen in the Houston gameIt seems like CRB is close to finishing his roster reset for the 2025-26 season. I just wonder if there is any consideration about a physical big that can play 4 and 5? I know we added Carey and Brown. I just remember the feeling we had as we watched Houston pound us. I hope we have enough "glass eaters" on the team.
Maybe. I’m not as down on Milicic as most are, though he definitely tailed off down the stretch. Perhaps this is moving the goalposts, but even if our 3 and 4 can match last years, that might not be enough if Ament isn’t ready to carry an offensive load like Lanier did. And I can’t imagine we’ll be better on defense without Zakai and Jahmai. I just see us slipping a bit this year, which is fine, we’ve just had maybe the two best years in program history so regression would not be something to be mad at. But if Ament really is capable of being a number one option and one of Abram or Carey surprises me, who knows. I’m also a huge fan of Estrella but not counting on anything from him till we have some clarity on his footEdited to be more clear…
Like I said our 3rd & 4th options last year were Milicic & Mashack, I feel pretty confident that Carey and 1 of Abram/Massamba can do better than that combo from last year.
Zeigler never even averaged 35 mpg on a season. With all due respect and more realistically Ja'Kobi Gillespie will average more around 30-32mpg most likely - similar to ZeiglerI think Gillespie will be a 35-36mpg guy, those 4/5 could be Abram, or it could be Henderson, Boswell, Ament, Gainey if he’s back, Massamba, or another add as well.
