2025 Transfer Portal Thread

Perry isn’t ideal and is a saloon door on defense, but I’d take him as a bench piece to just come in and try to get hot. Like the Dubar role last season.

Problem is, this would’ve been his role at UK and it’s his dream school. Doubt he’s coming here to do the same.
I feel like they recruited over him even more this offseason. Probably wouldn’t see the floor except in blowouts.

Yeah you’re probably right. Point still stands tho, I’d imagine he’s looking to move down and get a serious bump in PT at a MM. He’s just not someone that should be playing major minutes for a contender at this point of his career.

Needs to get on to Murray State. Give that a year or 2.

Saw a discussion earlier that someone asked if ZZ/Gainey would need to be in the portal if a 5th year was granted and they did want to play elsewhere. Seemed everyone was saying yes they would need to be, but my question is why? Aren’t they graduates at this point? Can’t they just grad transfer without the portal?

I'm not saying rush out to get aPerry, but I will say that UK totally mismanaged him and his abilities this year. They tried to put him on the ball and make him run point, mostly because of injuries to Robinson and Butler, but he's not a PG by any means. He's a SG and a good one, but he needs to find a place that will play him in that role of spot-up shooter.

I said months back several times this 5th year thing is very not likely to happen. I haven't really posted much about it because it's not worth wasting time debating it.
We are like the only school I have seen that keeps pretending it has like a 50/50 chance of happening or something. If there were odds they would probably be like 2-5% likelihood. If that.

Having said that, people ( not necessarily you) that have been holding out more than just miracle type hope ZZ and Gainey will be here next year, IMO, would be better to give up that dream ftm and focus on building this roster with necessarily available players.

He is a volume shooter, but you can put him down for 20 a game.
I watched Haggerty pull out several late wins for Memphis this season. He’s solid from 3, but probably as valuable is his ability to draw the foul in the lane. He’s an artist at it, goes the line a ton and is nearly automatic when he does. Heck, the guy is an All American and the 3rd leading scorer nationally this past season. His problem is it doesn’t look like he’s going to get his asking price of $4 mil anywhere, Turned down the $3 mil in FedEx $ Memphis offered him to stay. Getting him for 2.5 would be a good investment imo, but he’s gonna post up and take offers for a while I imagine.

They kinda got forced into how they ended up playing Perry because of injuries. He also got exposed IMO on defense, so that played a role, too.
That's definitely meaningful in respect to Tennessee and grabbing us a " Perry".
If we get us a spot up shooter to just come in and be looking to snipe, he'd better be able to handle his own defensively.

Kinda hope Cal takes a look just for the UK reactions. Need a shooter anyway.
