2025 Transfer Portal Thread

D’Maurian Williams

Thank me later

No one talking about him
He's out of eligibility barring a 5th year and was considered a huge bust at Texas Tech during his stay there when he transferred up from Gardner-Webb. He averaged 3 points a game in his first season there and then only played in 7 games in his second, before he transferred back down to High Point. Those were his junior and senior years at Tech, he's a grad student playing at High Point.

Malachi Davis looks like he has potential, 6'4 175, (plus he's from Canada and Barnes loves him some Canucks). He's not a great long range shooter but he's a scorer. Averaged 17.7/3 reb/3ast as a sophomore this season, scored 19 vs Ole Miss and 12 vs Missouri, 17 against Air Force and 31 against Charlotte. He had multiple 30 point games this year.

Kind of volume shooterish, imo at least, 45# efg% is not good. Can’t shoot from 3 and was like 40% from 2 in a very bad league, not sure how much I see improvement happening.

That is kind of scary. Inefficiency is the enemy to production. We’ve got to find a reasonably good shooter that can make teams pay for leaving them open.

Barnes has already said that Boswell has finally figured it out and is coming on strong.
Hadn't read this. Hope it's true. Personally, I'd rather have a more physically mature player with experience, because our history with the 5 star types is kinda unimpressive. Having said that, I won't lie....yeah, I'm a bit hypocritical here...but Darius Adams being out there and us having some money to spend....man, it's so tempting. Maybe I can call on some outside influences?

First, being smart with money at 20 years old isn’t easy. Second, people still want to work and make more money. There are plenty of people who could retire but still put in work and make more money. Everyone always wants more.

I don't expect you to confirm but I have family with the name Gee. Originally from the D.C. area but plenty all over the country and the pocket that I am closely related to built their lives/careers in Knoxville after moving there in early 1950s. Probably not your last name but all your posts remind me of family and home.

Then it’s in the bag!

But which bag is it in? Is there a bonus if I get it right when opening the first bag? Conversely, is there a penalty if I open the wrong bag(s) first?

What if there is some confusion and I have to clearly explain "That's not my bag baby"? Great, now I'm stressed and need a xanax.

It is my last name. In hindsight, I would probably not use it, but I’ve had it for about 25 years since I was originally on VolQuest.

While I did attend UT, I don’t know of any family from DC or Knoxville. My extended family was all from Texas. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some connection many years ago.

Cade Carey & JP are not unknowns.
The only unknown is will they all stay healthy & will JP be 100%? If Estrella is 💯 we have a good go to offensive threat down low with great touch. All the Vol fans know what Carey can do - no excuse to say he's an unknown. Putting those numbers up as a sophomore big in the SEC & against TN is impressive. And to say Cade is unknown is not a shared opinion by many. Cade when healthy is a continued progress in the right direcXanax.

Cade's potential is way undersold. He is VERY strong for his age/weight. He will always be lean but will continue to add mass and strength. The main two areas of focus for him need to be developing post moves and depth on his jumper.

Cade has a good looking shot and great touch for a big. He could develop into a reliable threat to stretch the floor more which puts his ceiling at being drafted and raises UT's ceiling immensely. He already is tough, athletic, aggressive, rebounds, passes very well and plays within himself. Add a reliable jumper (preferably with 3pt range) and he's a stud. We will see if he can.

This guy entered last night, wouldn’t hate it…

55% from the field (ranked 4th on UT)
39.1% from deep, but just 2 attempts a game (ranked 4th 2nd on UT)
62.9% from 2, on 4.1 attempts a game (ranked 4th 2nd 2nd on UT)
61.5% EFG% (rank 2nd on UT)
7.5 bpm (rank 6th on UT)

Obviously he’s bigger, 6’7” 210lbs, so probably not playing any 2 for you, but he could definitely play some 3 and some small ball stretch 4.

Give me him and his teammate transfer Desmond Claude. Needs filled
