2025 Transfer Portal Thread

Yea, only other visit he’s taken that I’ve seen, his Kansas teammate Udeh is there and Passmore may end up there also, I’m also sure they aren’t short on funds either.
I think the k-mart version of him is still available (the kid from Houston)

He averaged 10+ppg when playing over 24mpg…think he averaged around 20mpg on the season.

Bring him back to The Hill..... who is with me? Bueller.....Bueller......Bueller?
He still playing ball? Sheesh, he dropped faster than Bill Clinton does with his pants.

I remember when Aidoo and BHH both committed to us during the same week.

BHH ruined his career. Go Smokey dog house lol or whatever BS snarky comment he said. Bet it felt good to say that during the time lol

If you listened to Basilio and other posters, Freeman was scared off by Ament commitment. Was not a money decision. Pearl got him to believe he would not be starter here and would there. Another poster was right on this. Weren’t getting Freeman after Ament.
Thank you for confirming! I've been saying we wouldn't get Freeman + Ament for a while and a few gave me hell. Much respect 🦾

Good point, but to my mind Freeman was more physically mature and adjusted to college life than Ament. Figured the ROI would be more immediate with Rice/Freeman vs Ament/plan B. Then again, who the heck am I to question a HOF coach like Rick Barnes? If he's sold on Ament, that's good enough for me. Still hoping we can get a really solid 2 guard tho. Really believe we need another good shooter or three.
My humble opinion. Fans having the opinion that they would rather have Freeman than Ament is going to be looked back on as amazing humor one day. Especially because he was more prepared thanks to playing 1 season of D2 basketball. 😬🤣

Didn’t Dybantsa get bumped off the top spot by some recruiting services too? Not by Nate but by Darryn Peterson?

I've seen that in a few places, but I've been hearing about Dybantsa as a generational talent since he was a sophomore. He's one of those "once a decade" talents according to the Jonathan Givonys of the world.

Not a name I’ve heard, but one that would make sense imo is Rylan Griffin from Kansas, formerly Alabama. Many thought he was UK bound but Aberdeen took his spot and they’re out of it now, Miami seems to be the only other school currently involved, but they’ve added some guards also. He struggled at Kansas but was a proven bucket and 3pt shooter at Alabama, I would definitely inquire if I was Tennessee.
He's not a true shooting guard , he's more of a small forward & I doubt he would want to come off the bench behind Ament at the 3, right?

Have you been to LMU? I wouldn't really call it any kind of advantageous college experience.

It's a very small college in the middle of cow pastures in a town that has 3 gas stations and two restaurants. They draw about 200 people a game and Freeman is playing against guys that are middle of the road high school guys from middle of the road high school teams.

He may be some miracle that slipped through the cracks but I could also see him being a guy who never averages double figures at this level.

Dubar, averaged 18/7 roughly at a much higher level than Freeman just played at.

Ament is a potentially generational player.

Ament is capable of playing the 3 or 4 imo
Yes sir, as Barnes states "next level positional size" refers to his incredible height at his true position at the 3. With 4 bigs who all can be impact players at the 4 & 5 (Carey, Phillips, Estrella, & Okpara) - Barnes will undoubtedly use Nate Ament in that KD 3 role.
Look at his in depth tape. Ament can guard on the wing & he primarily plays the wing position from his hs & summer circuit tapes. That's big for us man. Just saying I doubt we get another starting caliber small forward. I respect your input always and updates but I'm pretty confident about this.

But you're right Ament "can" play the 4, if I'm reading into this right we are going to utilize Ament in a way that will position himself as a potential #1 pick and nothing more would attract the nba to Ament than to see a 6'10" Ament flourishing on the wing on the Vols. We will see

One reason I think it wise that Barnes basically requires a face to face before $ is even talked. I had this discussion with my bro-in-law over the weekend even.

Tony V is elite, he gets the guys here and when they sit down to talk offer/NIL he closes or he moves on...rarely does a guy leave and get to "shop around"

Barnes is calculated, you want to get a legit offer/NIL discussion you have to get on campus nothing is discussed until that happens...it helps weed out a lot of tire kickers, but Barnes doesn't close quite like Tony and often we see guys walk away and then commit later after sitting on it a bit

Heupel I think is a bit of a mix...with football it's more difficult to wait on in person discussion so unfortunately it seems like we throw out offers to get guys to visit more than with the other 2 sports.
I think a lot of that is the difference in sports. Basketball gets far higher numbers thrown around than baseball and that changes the game. That’s not the only thing changing the game so it’s apples and cantaloupe.
