I agree, here, and I'll add that it likely means that without him (Ament) giving any firm indication behind the scenes, as in a silent commitment to the staff, this is the read they have on him based on what they know and the competitiveness of their offer coupled with the reciprocal actions of the player/parents/agent.Others have already given their interpretation, but I think it means that even though the staff can’t read Ament’s mind and know 100% where he’s leaning, they feel like given what they do know, things are in their favor. In other words, without the kid outright saying it, the staff believes they are leading. That’s how I took it.
Usually, when AP phrases things like this, it means he believes we are leading without completely spelling it out.
In other news, some people are just idiots and no matter how hard we try they are not capable of understanding simply logic.I love the implication that you're somehow responsible for the timing and outcome of each recruitment because you shared info on it. Some people just can't be satisfied with content and understand that it's a snapshot in time.
Yeah, I am curious if it is more about them choosing either him (offense) or Passmore (defense) for the role of adding a young guard.only thing about Chaikin is I hope he’s not a replacement for Freeman or Rice. I’d like to add him in addition to those guys. Chaikin will only be a sophomore this upcoming season.
there is 0 way, he is likely a potential ROI goat, he won't demand much coming from the patriot league and has potential to be incredibly valuable as a bench piece. Our staff is good at this portal thing, they know the difference between a starter and a solid bench guy.only thing about Chaikin is I hope he’s not a replacement for Freeman or Rice. I’d like to add him in addition to those guys. Chaikin will only be a sophomore this upcoming season.
I just watched a few videos of him from this season. It is certainly interesting.Chaikin can hit shots but have major, serious question about his ability to compete athletically here. Jmo.
Can’t stress enough about how high IQ as a passer is such a big deal.I just watched a few videos of him from this season. It is certainly interesting.
If you are the coaching staff, you see:
Positives
-Good height
-Very good wingspan
-Elite catch and shoot
-Very good at understanding how set up defender and use screens (big criteria for how we run offense)
-High IQ as a passer
Then the question is how much can you add to his strength (he needs to add a lot) and once you get him on an elite weight/plyo/agility routine with our trainers how much can you add to his explosiveness? That is not an answer you can fully know in advance. With all the traits that he already has, you can hit a home run in a couple years if hits the top end of possible projections for strength and explosiveness. Some gamble there obviously.
