2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Leashes are way tighter
cause you don't build a 50 million dollar hedge fund and let a 10 million dollar fund manager run losses

Or does donor want his money back if injury occurs.
Obviously I don’t want to see players hurt but things as such have happened.

Because like I said - four hours there and four hours back makes for a long day. It's a lot easier to tolerate when the team is winning. Driving home after getting dog walked by Vanderbilt was miserable. I'm at a point where I'm conflicted - its a lot of time and money and effort to attend games. At the same time, the memories made and experiences my sons and I have are priceless. Obviously we have our best times after wins. Alabama '22, dog walking Kensucky and Levis, molly-whopping Rattler in '23, the Texas AM game, Alabama 24, going for 6 in OT vs FLorida... those are all games we reminisce about (silly to say, like they're not even that long ago).

We don't ever talk about the UGA '23 game. Or the losses this year. Those kinda sucked. So if it comes to pass where we're losing more games than we're winning.... then the boys and I will just grill out at home and watch on the ridiculously overpriced 82" TV got - and instead pick a game or two to buy tickets to if the want arises.
My son is now 20. Even the Butch years and Dooley crap, I was with him. 4 hours is tough and I’m getting old and the traffic making it 2 to 2 and a half hours each way is getting hard. This portal crap makes it worse. Not sure how old your kids are but I know I would not trade Vol watching with my son for much of anything. Now, it’s not always he and I and his GF just got accepted and is trying for Pride of the Southland. No more complete days of just him and me. Dang, portal and him growing up, it just all sucks.

Until we get (enforceable) legally binding contracts, NIL caps, and transfer limits, this is no longer college football anymore. this is minor league with associated university sponsors. That being said, I am still rooting for the UT-affiliated Vols to be the best minor league team in the nation.

Realistically, I see the best case scenario for UT at this point is for either GMac or Faizon to ball out this year, then next year the other transfers out for a couple million, putting us in a similar spot, needing a 2nd or 3rd QB. rinse and repeat.

Didn’t know raising canes was a product of LSU.

Thank you
yes it’s kinda funny. Owner went to LSU and him and an eventual business partner got a low grade on a class project for an idea for a chicken finger only restaurant. Fast forward 30 years later and he’s worth billions.

My boys are 18 and 16. They’re at the age where it’s no longer “don’t make plans - we’re going.” It’s now “hey if you’re not working or have plans with your girlfriend - let’s go to the game”.

I miss the younger years.

My son has dated this girl since the summer before their junior year. He told her his Saturdays when the Vols are at home were for him and his dad. Now that is beginning to change. Lol

TLDR: If you ain't cheating you ain't trying!

I've raced asphalt circle track on and off over the years. When we started out we were a mid pack car, semi competitive. One thing I learned real quick is that almost every car is cheating to some degree. And if they aren't then they are running in the back. The really good cheaters were always running up front, winning races, cashing the big checks, and taking home the hardware. Track tech was either too stupid or too lazy to care and protest fees were exorbitant. After a couple of seasons I decided I had had enough of trying to do it with "integrity" and started cheating like the guys up front. That following season I won all but 2 races, I cashed all the big checks, I brought home some very cool trophies - one of em being a guitar, and I won the championship. My driving skills and capabilities weren't the problem, it was my approach. That one adjustment now ensures anytime we unload at the track we are a contender.

I learned two things during that season 1) winning is a **** ton of fun and 2) if you ain't cheating you ain't trying!

Ole Danny boy needs to get off his self-righteous high horse and start rolling in the mud with the rest of em or enjoy mediocrecy.
