2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Give and take. He’s more of a gambler than those two were, which also gave us some jump balls to Brazzell and maybe Matthews. He had 4 less INT’s in essentially the same number of attempts the year before at App State. Also had 40 more completions, which is our system. You could also count at least 2 or 3 that went off hands- I recall at least one to Kitselman and Staley.
No disagreement on the gambler comment, but that only further makes the point that the system didn’t help to hide those mistakes And limit the TOs. And sure, I absolutely acknowledge a couple of those can be attributed to the WRs/TEs wetting the bed. Of course, that is a two-way street. How many of the former QB’s picks could also be attributed to poor play by teammates?

I don’t know. Maybe some.

But I really wasn’t too concerned with JA’s picks from a prior school because our offense does minimize them. I still think that’s the case for JA. He played as well as I had hoped and had a few bad moments. To be fair, the pick against Bama was both a bad call and simply just a bad pass. Not a mental mistake.

We need a QB who will rip it and not freeze mentally because our offense gets guys open, and the wide splits minimizes interceptions.

We stopped utilizing the wide splits this year as part of the offensive adjustments. Perhaps that also helps to account for the higher TO numbers relative to other years.

Not altogether, but yes, we adjusted some this year. I would have to go back and look at the two OU throws that weren’t good.

His coach was fired and they hired a new coach. He has a different window (I think, honestly it’s all very confusing lol)
He fell under the old rules which was he has 30 days to enter the portal after their coach was fired. He has been in the portal for sometime.

Colandrea would be a beast in our system. Plus he can run which would really help the running game. Likely get him for a decent amount and focus on a dominating defense. And spend heavier on a RB. Sorsby isn’t worth his pay and we could get an extra 3-4 great players for the savings.
Colanderea was at UVA for two years.
They IMMEDIATELY got better after he left.
Anyone can go look at his stats too. And his numbers at UNLV with their schedule.

He went from a 200 yard rusher at UVA to a 600 yard rusher at UNLV.

I do not want to see this dude suite up for Tennessee. Just my opinion

Doesn't sound like we're interested.

Sorsby absolutely is. BV said he would prefer to land in Knoxville, just wasn't sure aboout us being outbid by TT. He's as reliable as you can get. My thing is, if he really wants to be here, we could get away with paying 500k less. Guess we will see. If we can't get Sorsby Leavitt, I'd love the JMU or Harvard QB.
Anyone care to enlighten me as to who BV is? Thx in advance..

I'll believe that when I see it. I dont think we'll ever find out what we're offering him because TT is likely gonna offer him stupid money. The number we offer then continues to drop with each prospect because there will continue to be someone who is desperate and more willing to pay bigger money than each person Is worth, which will ultimately end up with us taking a depth guy and it basically coming down to Gmac or FB, or holding hope that JA can get another year. Just how I see It.
I see it much differently and have hear from reliable ones that we are one of the desperate ones this year. If you think Heupel is going to rely on a true FR and RS FR next year with our schedule, you haven't been paying attention. He's alreyproved his desperation with firing Banks. Guess we will see.

Theres nothing in the past that proves we will spend big for portal players though. We have on HS for sure. Now, Weve been lucky to hit on some guys in the portal that have panned out for us, but it wasnt because we went out and dropped a lot of cash either. Last year, we desperately needed to spend big money in the portal on defensive players and we didnt. And it absolutely bit us.

We've never been in a desperate situation under Heupel, he's in one now.

It's got to kind of rough being a group of 5 head coach right now. If you have a great season just count on not having half your team the next year. Guess the flip side is that you can get some power 5 backups that want to start somewhere
Flip side of that, if he's a successful G5 HC, he will get a power 4 job at some point.

That is no surprise he got better. He went from Tony Elliott to Dan Mullen. That is like going from Dave Clawson to Lane Kiffin aka Crompton lol
