2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

My thing is, you’ve made it work with Hooker, Milton, and Joey. None of them were highly regarded in the portal.

Continue doing that and just load up the defense for Knowles for his first season.

Do NOT waste the time on Sorsby like we wasted our time on Nico.
Time won’t be wasted on Sorsby. May be some back and forth, but it won’t drag on like Rice or even McKneely in bball. If it doesn’t happen, we will turn stone and be prepared.

Just go throw money at Barnett. Rather have him anyways for the price tag.

Would much rather have the JMU or UNLV QBs. Both of them actually played great in their teams biggest games and were the best QBs in their leagues. Paying more than 2 mil for any QB that wasn’t even third team all conference is a complete waste of money.
JMU QB is a take. IMO

(Obviously not speaking for the coaches)

Not the kid from Arkansas St
Or Kennesaw St
Sorsby wants too much money.
He and Hoover are both grossly overestimated.

Heupel and Lane Kiffin are the only HC that have a track record of actually developing previously underperforming QBs.

We have Heupel.

We got our guy. We’re just shopping.

I’m sitting here looking at next seasons schedule. Realistically, would our W/L record be better with a expensive 1 year rental, as some have put it, or rolling with one of our QBs already on roster and getting 2-3 more studs on the defensive side of the ball?

I’ve almost got myself talked into rolling with what we have and solidifying our defense.

So non-QB board looks like:

Edge
Adam Trick
Chaz Coleman

LB
Keaton Thomas

CB
AJ Harris

S
Tawfiq Byard (sounds like things “trending”)
Jabril Rawls

DL
Malik Blotcon

RB
Cam Cook
Cam Edwards
Hollywood Smothers
What happened to the starting safety from Ohio St that was rumored to enter. Brother of our recent signee

Do we believe that we'll spend ~$10M or so to have three QBs on the roster for one position? It's looking that way. I just can't see the current NIL landscape surviving without some guardrails like a salary cap and collective bargaining. The money required to be competitive at the very top is ridiculous. It's definitely the college football I grew up loving in the 70s and 80s.

I don’t think money is an issue to do both?

Can't imagine us not getting a good QB and revamping the secondary/defense with all this talent in the portal.

There are probably 8-10 QBs that would be takes among the fanbase available right now. And possibly be more once the portal opens in January.

Such an odd career, 553 yards and 5TD’s as a true Freshman then 632 yards and 3TD’s in the 3 years since.
Tennessee desperately wanted this guy in ‘21 but he “big timed” the Vols. He can finish at Memphis now.
