2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Hell of a class we just signed. Great job by the staff.

My portal predictions below:

1 QB - depth piece
1 RB - only if its an impact 1A starter
1 CB
1 Star
1 Safety
2 IDL
1SDE (1 year of eligibility left player)

Plug and play impact players.

I'm in the minority with rolling with the young boys at QB. I'll rather spend $4MM on beefing up the team around them with portal players than on a QB who is above average.
I don't want to put any of our young QB's into the fire before they're ready....... And freshmen are rarely ready. Would rather have an insurance policy QB im comfortable with starting, if either of the young guys take the starting role over......so be it. But throwing them into the fire before ready can ruin them.

That's a fair point. Wouldn't mind a FCS QB who put up big numbers coming in to compete for the starting spot with the 2 young kids. Wouldn't cost no where close to what is being reported for the 1 or 2 "top" QBs in the portal now.

The QB also have to be a true dual threat though. Love Joey but he didn't threatened the defense with his legs this season.

Personally, this is who I want. Kid would be a natural in our offense, and has the skill set we need at QB. The numbers speak for themselves.

He might be VA Tech bound.
That’s my only worry. If Joey comes back it’s a moot point, but my fear is it drags out, and we’re stuck digging in the bargain bin for a portal QB. We need a veteran starter at QB out of the portal. Regardless of how talented GMac and Faizon might be, I personally think it’s going to be too much to put on young, inexperienced kid between fully grasping the system, but also the schedule we have coming up next year is a murderer’s row. Just feel like the best move would be to look to the portal for an experienced, veteran level starter that fits the system so the transition will be seamless.

I'm with you, with 2 caveats:

-Obviously, with regard to the QB, that depends on what happens with Aguilar. If he's able to come back, no portal QB. If he isn't, I'm all for grabbing a portal QB.

-I'm 50/50 on whether we should grab a portal RB. Morris is going to be a good RB, so I think you have your top 2 with him a Bishop. Do you risk running him off by getting a 1-year rental who pushes him to 3rd string? On the other hand, are we comfortable with Lewis and Morris as 2A and 2B? Lewis may leave on his own. Or the coaches may decide that Lewis just isn't going to be what they need, pull in a portal guy and let him leave on his own. Or the coaches may decide that Lewis has another level he will hit and stand pat. I'll defer to the staff on this one. Also, I hope Baker sticks around. I think he can develop into a good RB.

Completely agree with the rest of your picks. And yes, those need to be plug and play guys.

I think we are good at running back, our DE group is good as is. Would take 2 corners. Complete agree with the rest.

Grab the kid from ODU, if needed. This team is built for NC in 2027. I say run with young guys and ball out.

RB: Bishop and Morris for a two deep. If Lewis stays we replicate this year with Morris filling in for Thomas.

We had so many young guys play this year, and I believe that will pay off huge next year. Wish they could have gotten Merritt, Poteat, etc. more time, but....

Underwood kept Michigan in the Top 20 all year. So freshmen can do it. 2027 is the national champ year for this group, so they may ride with the young QBs and a vet for insurance. The young QBs need to play.

I believe most portal money is for the defensive backfield, especially if we lose McCoy and Hood both. As well as DT.

question is when is a ruling..or do you just play him like Vandy played Pavia and force their hand. That would take guts.

I’d like to see Morris at rb2 next year and see what happens. He has some cuts and feet Lewis and Baker don’t have and a little more speed than Bishop
