2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Which is a bit of an indictment on our coaches. I know plenty of long term Vol supporters and none of them think Telander is worthy to start at UT. Guess the coaches see something other than results on the field that we don’t see.

Nice young man from all accounts but just not talented enough (physically or instinctively) to play at this level, except perhaps as a backup.

Long term vol supporters? Are they former players at least? Or just some dudes?

Does it matter? If they played offensive line can they judge Telander at LB? The question is somewhat of a deflection. He isn’t good and he definitely shouldn’t start or get the number of snaps he received at UT. Frequently out of position, even if in position often not athletic enough to make a play and is horrible in pass coverage.

Same could be said about Turrentine at safety.

Definitely matters. Everybody here is a long term vol supporter. And there are differing opinions on all kinds of players and coaches and none of it means anything bc they’re not former or current players or coaches to have the credibility or knowledge to be able to truly know what they’re talking about.

If the long term vol supporters aren’t those things, they’re just Billy bobs with opinions. Like all of us.

I have a hunch Lagonza Hayward may be a portal possibility. With the staff connection. Played this year. Staff wanted him. They do a good job not burning bridges.

Would absolutely take him.
The way he screwed Tennessee last year and made it sound like our coaches ignored him at the end when they couldn’t talk to him due to the NCAA-imposed sanctions of additional non-contact periods…that left a sour taste in my mouth about him.

That said, I don’t know the kid and the coaches do. Maybe that issue could be/has been smoothed over. But I know that from an ability standpoint, I’d take him in a heartbeat. He’d step right in at Star, be a starter, and turn that position from a weakness to a strength.

What makes you say that? His recruiting ranking?

I don’t recall his name ever really being mentioned when I was watching FL games this year.

You cite your source and the when you get called on it, you say it doesn't matter. Sounds like your source is yourself.

Hell of a class we just signed. Great job by the staff.

My portal predictions below:

1 QB - depth piece
1 RB - only if its an impact 1A starter
1 CB
1 Star
1 Safety
2 IDL
1SDE (1 year of eligibility left player)

Plug and play impact players.

I'm in the minority with rolling with the young boys at QB. I'll rather spend $4MM on beefing up the team around them with portal players than on a QB who is above average.

Qe have significant investments in MM, BS, etc. Additionally the TE room. And will have, TK on campus. You need to get those dudes on same page.
Hopefully MM and BS take huge steps forward and either GMac or Brandon can be the guy. If keys is anywhere near as good as his ranking, our wide receiver room is looking dangerous especially when you add in Ethan davis. GMac is gotta be the favorite to start next year
