Is This ‘Squad’ Dem About To Get Wiped Out In A Primary?

1707605637694.png

Democratic Missouri Rep. Cori Bush may be headed for a defeat in this year’s primary battle amid a federal investigation and strong criticisms of her positions on the Israel-Hamas war, a new poll suggests.

Bush, a member of the so-called “squad” of left-wing House Democrats, is trailing her main primary challenger, Prosecuting Attorney of St. Louis County Wesley Bell, by 22 points with about six months until voters in Missouri’s first congressional district go to the polls for the primary election in August, according to a new poll by MOScout and Remington, a Republican polling firm. Bush is currently under federal investigation for alleged misuse of federal security money, and she has repeatedly taken decidedly anti-Israel stances since the Hamas war commenced in October 2023.

Democrats Flip Santos’s New York House seat in high-stakes special election

Former Rep. Tom Suozzi (D) has won back his old seat in the House, giving Democrats a critical pickup that will further narrow the GOP House majority, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.

Suozzi defeated Republican Mazi Pilip in the special election to fill the seat vacated by former Rep. George Santos (R), who was expelled from his seat in December in the aftermath of criminal charges being filed against him and the many false claims he made about his background.

Why does the GOP insist on shat candidates? People stop. Trump loyalty should not be the litmus test.

Very good chance and the GOP Rino Uniparty types are going to help your cause tremendously, as they did with Santos seat last night.

It wasn't Trump supporting GOPers who voted with Dems to expel Santos. You are shocked GOPers didn't show up last night to support a Rino candidate after being stabbed in the back by their own Party?

And you want to try and turn this into a blame Trump thing? Give the glue sniffing a break. Geez.

Here’s a strategy idea for the GOP. Don’t do whackadoo stuff like impeaching cabinet secretaries and running Marjorie Taylor Green out in front of TV cameras if you want to hang onto the majority.

That is a strategy for absolute defeat, my friend.

I just don’t think you can govern that way and expect to hang onto power. MAGA is a great way to win primaries but it’s turning into a lead balloon in swing districts and swing states. You don’t have to run to the center, but at the same time you can’t cede control to the fringe either. Every second Boebert, MTG, Gaetz etc is on camera is like rocket fuel for the left.

They are letting the tail wag the dog. Dems doing the same thing.

And both dogs have had enough.
Yep. It’s just like the stunts AOC, Omar etc were pulling during the Trump administration. The average American just mentally checks out when they hear that crap. Stop governing like you’re running for class President.

The GOP moderates cant get voters out. You realize that, right?? If the GOP cant win on issues like impeaching a Homeland Security cabinet member who is allowing our borders to remain open, then America is already lost. Explain how impeaching Mayorkas is bad strategy.

Baris is one of the best pollsters going today. He says R's are running significantly behind Trump Nationally AND have significantly less vote share than Trump. Like it or not, that is the truth, which you wont hear on Fox or other major media.

Trump is a complete cult of personality phenomenon; not an ideology. He’s always going to outpoll a faceless party IMO.

The idea that we now should impeach cabinet secretaries for the position of an administration is just nuts to me. Everybody acknowledges the border is a complete cluster, but you can’t start stringing up cabinet secretaries for bad policy. Go win elections.

The way Republicans have handled a house majority is straight amateur hour.

Impeaching Mayorkas is one of the best things the House has done and I would agree, the GOP House has largely been a clusterfck. Immigration is how Trump won in 16. It is a hot button issue with moderates that the GOP can actually win. Impeaching Mayorkas, while meaningless overall, will now cause a hearing in the Senate over immigration. If the Senate GOP plays their cards right during this Mayorkas trial, it could be a huge political win going into November.

I completely agree with you with respect to the issue. I just think it’s a dangerous precedent and have no confidence that Senate Republicans will pull it off.

Honestly, the vote probably happened yesterday because the thin margin in the House was going to drop by another vote as soon as the NY election results were in.

Raise your hand if you think the leftist filth in the House of Representatives would have ever expelled one of their own if they thought there was any chance they would lose a seat.

I dont necessarily disagree that Trump has a cult like following. However, you cant deny election realities because you dont like his cult like following.

If a candidate runs away from Trump as a GOPer, they lose a significant block of voters. So, where do they go to find replacement voting blocs? To indies and moderate Dems. For a great example, look at Nikki Haley. She is begging Dems to cross over and vote for her. Same as Liz Cheney, Kinzinger, etc. All of them got slaughtered.

There is no path to winning national elections by running from Trump. Polling backs this up. The recent Primary elections back this up.

You have to live in reality and that reality is, as repugnant as you may find him, if you want to win elections then Trump is your guy to rally behind.
