I like metrics and data. Sure film too. But when u deep dive numbers it tells a lot.

But true when u can clearly see a prospect is over reliant on something that will not translate and they are ranked high 🚩

I think she’ll play a tough but reasonable schedule. One that gives her enough opponents we can for sure beat to start the season while she incorporates her system. But not one so bad we get over confident.

We will just look like Vandy, struggle to make the tournament because it was fools gold. I like to know who we are right out the gate like last season, once we loss to FSU I knew it wouldn’t be a good season. People will get excited if we rack up wins against very inferior teams, and once we get to conference play we go on a 7 game losing streak.

I like the number a little bit, but I rely mostly on the eye test, as an example everyone was excited about Pissot because of her ranking and it was a high school commit but once I watched her I knew she wouldn’t be good at this level. Now Nyla Brooks will be good at this level and I think her ranking is too low.

I agree Kellie deserved another year and that hs recruiting was showing progress. Would have loved for her to have legit NIL to work with.
But, Coach Caldwell did not fire Kellie, DW did. We’ve got to support our new young coach and not be too quick to judge her. There will be growing pains for her in several areas no doubt so we need to take a little longer view. My hope is that she, her staff and especially the players have a great year filled with lots of good memories.
At this point any gripes or frustrations we have belong to DW. For example -we are paying the man how much and he shows up at the press conference to introduce his new coach in a wrinkled jacket and no tie, no tie!! This was not a business casual event! Leave the polyester dockers at home. This was a dark suit and tie event. How many bigger events will he do this year? The flying monkeys will undoubtedly descend now but geezus he is a professional act like it and dress like it!

And now she is not coming! So her ranking doesn’t matter anymore…. So who is taking her place ?

I wouldn't be surprised if Teonni Key ended up at NCST just for the sake of staying closer to home. But then, she'd definitely be risking getting a lot of grief from Tar Heel Nation for going over to one of their main rivals.

Could she make her mother's travel schedule crazy again by coming to Tennessee? Did she ever even bounce back well enough from her injury to be ready for Tennessee?

I just remember seeing her early on at UNC and being impressed by her athleticism, and thinking how I sure wish she wearing orange. But that was before the injury, so I don't know where she's at with that.

Seems your issue should be with Kellie for not meeting the minimum expectations. Which seemed to be established by the board as S16 and 3rd in the SEC. But keep blaming DW for doing his job. I’m appreciate his no tie, 2pm announcement while shunning those who wanted another year.

If he had only done a zoom call presser.

In dismissing Kellie Harper. Danny tried to raise some war chest money to try and help Kellie but none of the donors were really on board with running it back. Now he's on the clock as far as where we go from here. I don't believe the talk about how White mandated changes on Harper's coaching staff. That's simply not true.

This is what was said as to why he went ahead and fired her. So guess none were giving money or were willing to in the future.

I don't know how true this is. But I thought that I read somewhere (probably on this blog) that the donors didn't want nil money going to hs recruits. Only to portal players. I thought that nil to high school recruits was illegal.

Sounds like sabotage to me, none of us know the real details, but if the money really wasn’t there for Kellie and now it’s going to flow with the new coach that he hired. That just tells me he want all in with Kellie since he didn’t hire her.

That story fits with the events but it is just strange to think donors would financially strangle the program because they did not trust Kellie (who had multiple S16s on her resume) and are now willing to write big checks for a coach with one year of D1 experience at Marshall. Nothing against CKC, it is just an odd scenario.

Not knowing the future even more reason to take a light approach to the non conference schedule. In the SEC you have more than enough challenges. If we had won three four more games she would still be here I believe. I am looking for Kim to lighten it up quite a bit with both Oklahoma and Texas joining. I think we already have games with Florida St and Notre Dame we have to play and one with Iowa in New York so the other 10 shouldn't be that tough I would think.

I no longer expect players to hit the portal. I was overthinking everything that day. After watching several minutes of Marshall games I came to the conclusion that it is basically not much different than anyone else. Just pressing after made baskets and taking first good open shot that comes up.

Also working to resume the home and home with UConn and we owe Colorado a game.
