2022 SEC Baseball Standings

Speaking of rented mules, Baseball Reference has only listed Kevin Kopps as throwing 3 innings in 2022 so far. And it just so happened to be during a combined no-hitter by his minor league team where he got the save. I wonder why he hasn't pitched more?

He's appeared in 12 games so far this year at AA.

I honestly would prefer the previous format. Top 8 with double elimination all week. Rarely does a team below .500 in conference play make it to the post season.
The only issue I have with 8 is that we have been getting 9 or 10 teams into the NCAAT. I don’t want to make the SECT harder to get into than the NCAAT. I would be good with top 10.

The SEC would be smart to shorten the tournament to give more rest to their teams, but you’re right that you can’t start shrinking it too much. Those teams on the fringe are using the tournament as an opportunity to jump into the tournament and better their positioning for regionals.

That’s exactly why they would never shorten it.

I say that from a fan point of view. I wouldn’t go to Hoover unless my team was guaranteed to play 2 games.
