Sarcasm noted, but the OP (secking) never said that Dan Mullen wasn't a good coach, or that Mullen wasn't a good recruiter. The point of this thread, before it was hijacked, was to simply point out that Florida has had more attrition than what is normal to their signing classes under Mullen. The 2019 Florida signing class, in particular, was not as good as it originally appeared to be because of who didn't get in. However, as I pointed out in an above post, Mullen has compensated for this by effectively working the transfer portal. He will be run out of town soon for only losing to the national champs and a #4 12-2 Georgia with a backup QB in 2019. Florida fans have standards, and this is unacceptable
You can find reasons to be positive and you can find reasons to be negative. It seems like you would rather be negative. This program was 4-8 in 2017, with precious little future NFL Draft talent on it. Butch Jones didn't beat a team from the SEC West in 5 seasons. Jeremy Pruitt has already beaten two in 2.So we have beaten 3 teams with a winning record in the last 25 games? OK, I will give you 4 games in the last 25.

If you Gator fans/posers can stop hijacking threads for just a minute, the valid point to be made here, is that recruiting services should re-rank the classes after the August camp has begun and those are the only rankings which should ever be relevant, because it doesn't do anyone any good to sign a bunch of 4 and 5 star players who don't end up enrolling in school. However, whenever any fans or analysts cite class rankings, they invariably only use the final class rankings from February. This fails to account for attrition and can give a false impression of how much talent a team actually has.
Finally, I don't understand why so many posters on here get so defensive when it comes to any hint of criticism levied against Florida. Some of you guys make it easy to forget that VolNation is, in fact, a University of Tennessee sports-based fan forum.
You missed the point. The OP (secking) never said that Mullen wasn't a good coach, or that Mullen wasn't a good recruiter. He merely pointed out that they have had some attrition to their signing classes. Isn't that allowed? Why are you so defensive about that? It is strange to see on a Tennessee sports-based fan forum. You guys do love your Gators on here... that's for damn sure.so....objective analysis of other teams or coach‘s success is not allowed here. Got it
BTW, if Pruitt was having the type of attrition UF is having, guys like you would spin it as Pruitt cleaning house and getting rid of dead weight, making room for more higher profile players, blah blah blah
"highly likely that Pruitt will never end a season with UT ranked in the top 10...." I'm thinking coach Pruitt is really glad that's been cleared up - no pressure now, he can just focus on being mediocre and just barely getting by as an SEC coach. What are you talking about? UF has finished the season ranked in the AP top 10 in both of Mullen’s first 2 years. It is highly likely that Pruitt will never end a season with UT ranked in the top 10 and we aren’t calling for his head.
No true fan is going to be that negative. We have too many Gator/Dawg fans on VolNation posing as Tennessee fans."highly likely that Pruitt will never end a season with UT ranked in the top 10...." That was with Dak Prescott. Mullen is a good coach, not a great one. Some, yes. They know he doesn’t live for recruiting like Meyer, Pruitt, and Saban do which results in good results, not great ones. 11 years and not even a division title. Yes, I know SECW, but he only was better than 4th in the west one time.

If you have only been suffering for 15 years, you have a long way to go my friend. You can check my history on this site if you don’t think I’ve been suffering with this team for the past 15 or so years. Every year UT can pencil in 3 losses until Pruitt can show he can beat one of our big 3 rivals b/c Saban, Smart, and Mullen aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. A 3 loss team won’t be in the top 10. Over the past 2 years Pruitt’s teams have been out scored a combined 255-86 against UF, UGA, & Bama. UT offensive productio was so bad last year that if you combined UT’s points from these 3 games it still wouldn’t have been enough to beat any of them alone.
Facts are facts. We have not been close to Mullen in the last two years. Show me and I will believe.
If he was losing 4 and 5 star SIGNEES before their first season? I couldn’t argue that some wrong **** was going down.so....objective analysis of other teams or coach‘s success is not allowed here. Got it

Highly likely, hmmmmm. Who did you want for the head coach. You are also blind us if you say you haven’t seen anyone call for his head. What are you talking about? That’s part of the argument I just don’t buy. They took over very similar teams with similar records from the previous yearHowever it has been said before and I will say it again. Look at what Pruitt had to work with talent wise and what Mullen had to work with. Now maybe the playing field for Pruitt is leveling. We will see.

While that is true, let's take a look at the respective levels of NFL Draft caliber talent on the Florida and Tennessee football teams in both 2018 and 2019. Here are the players from the respective schools who have been drafted since Dan Mullen coached his first game at Florida, and since Jeremy Pruitt coached his first game at Tennessee (both tenures began in the fall of 2018). It's 12 to 2 in favor of the Gators:That’s part of the argument I just don’t buy. They took over very similar teams with similar records from the previous year
None of this, has anything to do with Jeremy Pruitt's tenure (outside of 2018 and 2019).The last time UT finished ranked in the top 10 was 2001. 7 years under Fulmer and 4 coaches later haven’t accomplished that again. I would love to be proven wrong, but we have been stuck behind UF since 05,Bama since 07, and UGA since Kirby showed up in 17. A 3 loss team isn’t going to make the top 10.

So are mine, and I like what I see on the recruiting front so far. Pruitt is doing as well as any reasonable fan could expect, in conjunction with where he started from, and the results on the field. What it shows is how hard it is for a SEC school to finish in the top 10 since the conference is so top heavy. This isn’t the Big12 where a Baylor like rise can happen. But end of the day my views are based on the 25 games I’ve watched Pruitt coach and his recruiting so far.
